Storage Solutions is my dvd writer dying?

my 2 year old LG dvd writer is acting strange.it does not recognize many of my dvds.it says "insert disk into drive" or sometimes the windows shows the busy sign and gets stuck.The dvd sometimes work after reinserting it 4 or 5 times.now my dvd burning process has also started to fail.what should i do? please help.

Yes. It's dying. Get a new one. Samsung is pretty good nowadays I hear.

Lens is dying. Although you might want to insert a disc (bootable) to check if its being detected at boot.

But 99.9% the lens is dying. Time to get a new writer - Samsung my recommendation.

Your lens is dying. Change it . Using Samsung for 2years and no problem till now( no tray problem )

Do try and update your firmware and change the data cables to make sure that it is dying. If not writing try changing the mode to pio mode. If it works with this you can just wait to buy your next drive.

The pio mode worked.Thank you for the tip.But its very slow.Took 45 min to write a dvd.so i will get a new one asap.

If pio mode has worked then even after changing the dma it should work .try by changing cables and upgrading firmware.
