I read somewhere that this means it's the end of the road for the drive. I'll need to replace it. I have a five year warranty on it so that's not an issue but is there no way to fix this? The drive has become very slow of late too.

Also, this is a Samsung hard disk. Where can I get the replacement done for this in Mumbai? Can't find anything online to even check my warranty status.

^ @rgsilent , Where did u buy the Samsung HDD, If not in India then warranty is not valid in India, last I heard . Kindly confirm.
If bought in India then contact Seacare.

Yes, I did buy it in India (Lamington Road, Mumbai). Was bought less than 3 years ago but has 5 years warranty written on the bill.

So seagate will handle the RMA now? I did read on their site about some tie-up with Samsung. Will all Seagate centers take samsung hard disks?

There are conflicting opinions on raw read error rate.
You can run Seatools and see what it says, it will work with Samsung drives.

Alright. Thanks a lot. You were very helpful :)

EDIT: Ran Seatools and for short drive self test it's failing. Went to seagate warranty checker and it's in warranty for 3 years (the bill says five years). Another hard drive replacement then. 3rd in two years :sleep:
