Monitors Is my monitor gone?

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news... but I think the monitor is gone kaput. It happened to my old LG monitor. I spent some amount of money on it but it went out again. Also, even if you get it locally repaired, I don't think they will provide any warranty for the repairs. My advice to get it checked once, see if you can get it repaired for cheap, if not, just buy a new monitor and chill. :)

Plug your monitor and boot up. Let it stay that way for an hour. Ensure that your os does not go into standby mode. If the monitor does come back on after a real long time, then it's your secondary stage capacitors that have gone up in smoke. It can be fixed for a mere 16 bucks. Usually it's the 1000uF caps that go out.

Well today my brother had took my monitor to a local Technician here who repairs mainly TV's. He replaced some IC's and Capacitor's, now it is working fine.

The repair cost me Rs1200.00

Thanks all for your support :)

It's probably a back-light failure, may be the inverter, or less likely one of the CCFL lamps.

The LCD wouldn't switch to standby if the back-light had failed.

Plus the No-signal message wouldn't be visible either.
