Is my Xbox 360 controller duplicate?

I bought this from ebay a few months ago. Ever since I bought it the behaviour of the left stick has been very erratic and goes haywire in-game. For 2d games it's great but for 3d games I often found the character moving slowly in a direction when the stick was left untouched. I didn't react to the seller immediately and contacted him only after a few days, and he refused to replace it. I called a number of service centres too and they say I was not entitled to replacement :(.

But now, I have a suspicion that this controller might be duplicate. As you can see the logo is a little "off". One line of the X is straight and the other is curved. It's not the symmetric logo on the normal controller.

If it is actually original, how much will it cost to repair this thing at the service center?

Even my X is asymmetric but its to the right .I don't think your's is duplicate it might have been you got a lemon, did u ask why are they denying warranty??.

My controller is asymmetric too and it is original, so I don't think that is an issue. Maybe I'm not quite understanding what's wrong with the left stick, but can't it be fixed by calibrating the controller?

You shouldn't have done that in the first place. Had you sought an immediate replacement, the seller would have obliged or at least MS.

Unfortunately, there's nothing much you can do now.

I suppose so. Wasn't responsible enough :(.

No Xbox 360 controller has warranty of any kind, right?

Also, it can't be fixed by calibration since it isn't a fixed offset, but is very erratic. One time it will centre itself and another time it will go off in a direction. It seems to be a hardware problem, not software.

If I take it to a service centre, how much will it cost to repair it?

And what is the cheapest deal on a new one right now?

They have a 90 day warranty. No clue if our folks here can service the controller.
