Forum Feedback Is new post feature limited to 200 posts?

yesterday i logged into TE after a gap of 3 days.

earlier i had noticed that when i log in after a long time my search for new posts gives me 8 pages long list. after one or two instances i noticed it gives me exactly 200 new posts.

yesterday also same thing happened. 200 new posts, while i am sure there must be a lot more.

i have disabled new posts from introduction, p2p, and one more section.

is this thing a feature or hidden clamp?
 
Doc you have me stumped there - how did you manage to disable 'New Posts' from selective section - iirc, that hack is not present on TE anymore ;)

Yes, it is highly possible New Posts is restricted to 200 posts = 25 (posts) * 8 (pages).

Let me confirm it for you :) Meanwhile you should confirm if you can or cannot see new posts from the sections you have disabled :P
 
Yeah, it is limited to 200 posts...when I log into TE after even a 2-3 day long hiatus, i get no more than 200 posts
 
^ Cool Czar - let me find out if we can take out that 200 post limit or that limit is here to stay.

Even when I go to my profile and click on "View Posts by Nikhil", I get max of 200 results even though it is obvious I have posted much more :rofl:
 
All searches at TE are limited to 200 results max.

New posts or posts by a member are all kinds of a search.
 
yes i would second nikhils opinion here.

please increase limit of new posts.

increase the limit for this as well if possible...sometimes i remember the author of the post but i am unable to find it via search.

i find it easier going thru pages and pages of "posts made my so n so member"

200 is too less :(
 
^ QF said that search is an extremely server-intensive task. So having more than 200+ posts is inviting trouble. Its purely for that reason that the limit is in place :)
 
^^ok and thats why we have to wait for like 30 secs before searching again. got d point.

^^ Well basically not that you'd have to wait longer but it could also cause many other issues to crop up, like pages slowing down and post not being completed, etc.
