I've been using my VX450 for the last 4 months. I didn't observe before, but now the -12V reading shows -7.5V and the -5V shows -4.7V in both HW Monitor and speedfan. I'm attaching the pics. Is this normal with VX450 or my PSU has gone wrong. No practical problem though. But I don't wanna fry my rig. :(

@sabby and @Srirama : Also try monitoring software which might have come with your mobo ... Also try monitoring softwares from ASUS and DFI ... your sensor chip may not be compatible with HWMonitor

Well, from the software provided by Biostar shows the -5V reading as -4.76V, same as the speedfan or HWMonitor Pro. But the -12V reading is not there, neither in Biostar HWmonitor nor in BIOS.

@ALL VX450 users, can you check the -12V reading using speedfan and/or CPUID HWMonitor ?

Theres something insanely wrong :( about the -12V and 12V readings,look above at my last post for the screenshot.

I think you get the same readings in OCCT . Its just a reflection of the load on the psu if I am not mistaken. Those readings are closer to the rated volts when the pc is under full load. I made this observation some time back when a friend had assembled a machine and we were testing the OC.

I am not 100% sure though which is why i didnt reply earlier. Get OCCT and try it out yourself.

I am attaching the OCCT results. :( No -12V reading though. Once again, requesting all VX450 owners to post their speedfan voltage readings. :)

Hi,

i think your readings are absolutely fine and well below with ATX specifications, readings can be 5% high or low frm actual volts according to ATX specs.:)

correct me if im wrong :D

my speed fan is show really weird stuff...core 1 temps are -55C and my vcore voltage on the +12V is 1.86V and that on the -12V is 16.97...

@OP

why don't you buy a multimeter for 100 bucks and check it yourself? You can get one from Chandni market - it will be a handy tool for future requirements also.

-12V and -5V readings have been off in Speedfan since forever. Disregard them, they are not important and very few peripherals ever use that rail anyway. The -5V is only used for compatibility reasons, even if the voltage is not present there is no problem. The -12 is sometimes used by pro soundcards to power the output stage, but has little other use.

You have no reason to worry. As an indication, my -5V reads -8.78V, and the -12V reads -7V. The actual voltage on the -12 rail is -11.85V, as read by a multimeter. So relax.

I checked with multimeter on my TX750 ... for me also -12v rail voltage is shown around -7v in software while mutlimeter shows around -11.8v

One things is that ... we all have same sensor chip ITE IT87 i guess ... I'll post my screenshot later from home

I saw one thread on HWMonitor forum itself with same chip and same kinda issue ... so looks like this sensor chip is not fully compatible with HWMonitor or this chip itself is reading -ve voltage wrong :@
