Hi,

I am from Ahmedabad and Sharp Service is really patchy here. I am getting LG Invertor for 46k (won't go down much) but he is giving Rs. 7.5k for 5 year old problematic Samsung Split (which keeps giving problems;breaks down every 2-3 months).

My usage is approx 12 hours / day (9 hours in night, 3 hours in the afternoon when my daughter sleeps). A/c runs for roughly 8 months of the year (because of hot and dry temperature here). Do you think LG Invertor is good choice ? Final deal will be something like 46k+3.5k(installation) - 7.5k = 42k. Do you think it's good deal after VAT increase?

I am surprised by someone mentioning that Sharp is having patchy service. Most of the users of sharp including me who have had service experience has been on the better side. Once due to some reason our washing machine stopped working so we rang up Sharp Service at 11 AM and by 2 PM afternoon the person was at our house that too a great distance from his service center. I have never been happy with LG or Samsung products and it has always given me problem (maybe my bad luck) so I have decided to stick mainly to Japanese brands in Electronics as they have not given any issues.

Where are you based ?? Service depends a lot on what kind of marketshare companies have in that city. I was complaining about my own city, where forget about service but there are just 2-3 dealers selling Sharp Invertors!

LG makes excellent Inverter air conditioners. If you not happy with the Sharp's ASS in your locality you can opt for LG. If you looking for 1.5 Ton Inverter stick to Model No: BS-Q186C8R2

Service and dealers are independent of each other. In our area we have just 1 dealer for close to 15 kms who is a sharp dealer, yet when called for service which is handled by a Sharp agency directly they came within a couple of hours and solved our issue. With LG my experience has been totally poor. I had bought a Home Theater system and hardly watched around 10 odd movies and the system started having issues. When I asked for home service, they said this product needs to be taken to nearest LG service center, which I took and I was told some parts had gone bad! Can you believe after 10 movies the DVD player going bad? And cost to replace the part? Close to the amount needed to buy a brand new DVD player. Hence, each one has their experiences, and all I can say is I may be one of those unlucky ones as many seem to have had good experiences with LG and Samsung but my experience has not been that good.

Not sure what to tell you man but I don't agree with your views. Forget about local dealers not even stores like CHROMA in Ahmedabad carry any Sharp A/cs. If Sale is so hard, think about issues like replacement should a manufacturing defect come? I would surely have bought Sharp if it's presence was good in my city. Ahmedabad is not a small city by any means it has population of 60 lakhs+. Regarding your other comment. I have got Samsung A/c from past 6 years in my bedroom and it broke atleast 8-9 times during those years. Never buying a Samsung A/c again, but that doesn't mean I won't be buying Samsung Galaxy S4. Some companies are good at something while just average at others.

I have had similar experience with LG Home theater! I am just using it as a radio at the moment :(. 25k Radio at best! . On the other hand I have 6 LG A/cs in my house alone all of them working without any problems. I have 4 LGs out of 7 A/cs in my office. For me it's reliable and service is satisfactory.

I have ordered latest LG Inverter V and it's due to be fitted tomorrow :).

Some ACs / Products are not sold through retail multi brand stores, maybe Sharp is one of them , Toshiba is another, I have a Toshiba AC and it can only be bought through an authorized installer (Carrier sells and services Toshiba world wide) and not from a retail shop, the service is EXCELLENT.

Ok I contacted one of my friends in your city to get his views as he also has a Sharp Washing Machine and he says its available with many dealers! He says next to Chroma is Vijay Sales and he got it from there. He says service is also great and he needed it once when the machine would not start and the technician came within 5-6 hours of registering a call and it turned out that the machine was working fine only the socket in which it was had developed some issue. Hence, I was really surprised when you mentioned that its not available anywhere - just search on http://sharpproducts.in/dealer.aspx and you will find a big list of dealers selling Sharp products!

Anyway congrats on your purchase of the LG AC. Like I mentioned earlier people have had good experiences with LG but my experiences have been bad so decided not to buy from LG or Samsung as it gave me lots of trouble when I purchased and it could not be easily repaired.

So now that I have a week's usage, I can fairly say that I am very happy with my LG Inverter purchase. I don't know about power usage because the bill comes here in Ahmedabad, once in every 2 months. But the cooling is outstanding. When I start, I put it in JET MODE and it cools the room in roughly 10 minutes (from indoor temperature in remote of 33 to 26). Then I switch to 26 C and it keeps uniform temperature throughout! One thing I have noticed with Invertors we don't need slow fan as we used to do with our old "Samdung" A/c. This goes a long way in curing my 3 year old daughter's long going mild cold. It may have been cured by summer too, not sure :)

Only -ves I found are :
- No backlit remote. Every cheap 800 Rs phones have backlit displays, how hard is it to put it on remote of 50k A/cs ?
- Plasma/Skin Care modes are marketing gimmicks. Didn't find any difference. Normal is good.
- They stuck a photo of a couple on the A/c with features and it didn't come off easily. I had to use Kerosene and rubbing to remove that. Seriously why would I have a stranger couple's photo in my bedroom? LG please don't use strong glue.

I am very thankful to RishiGuru for his research. Finally I have a good A/c in my bedroom, after a 7-year torture with "Samdung" A/c it is such a relief!
