I have been offered the above mentioned model at Rs 29999/-. The dealer is also giving me a attractive Rs 3500/- exchange discount on my 21" LG flatron. The price is very good but I understand that this model has been replaced by the B450 with USB input. Now I do not need the USB input since my HTiB has one already.
As I mentioned in an earlier thread which I started, PQ is not a major criterion. Priority 1 is reliable and good ASS. Priority 2 is lowest price.
What are the pros and cons of buying this LCD?

well the biggest difference B/w this and new B450 is a the image processing and newer 09 spec panel.in response to sony developing BE3 samsung also improved their version in newer Bxxx both aimed at improving SD content.

well i have heard people in forums buy newer model for the same price, infact i remember some one who bought a B530 for the same price under exchange of some crt.so i don't think thats a good deal.

And how about the LG32LF20FR? This one seems to be a full hd and is available for something like 28k on compare india

The 32B530 is around 35K I think, so just 5K more than this. Would be a better deal, unless you're only going to watch SD content.

Right now I only have cable. I will shortly either get a STB from the cable wallah or go for DTH. I don't believe I will be watching HD content any time soon.

But what about the LG model I mentioned since it is available at a lower price than the Sammy series 4? That is a FHD isn't it? How will it be for watching SD content?

for sd content FHD tvs may not look as good as HD ready tv,take the sony 32" hd S550A vs FHD V550A.for SD content the S550A is a tad sharper, but overall the V550A is still better since it uses a panel with higher contrast.

the LG i believe is HD ready, its only better in sound quality department compared to samsung, even its viewing angle seems to be no different from the samsung

^^ Does it mean that SD content will look pathetic on big screen full HD TVs (say 46"). How can we ensure that SD content looks good on these big TVs ?

well as the size increases u can spot the drawbacks of SD content in a HD or a FHD screen more easily,u can compensate by increasing the viewing distance,at a certain distance one cannot differentiate b/w FHD, HD and SD since our human eyes cannot resolve the detail.
also its not necessarly that SD content will be better in a HD ready tv then a FHD tv,since it depends upon the image processing of the tv,since even a HD ready screen has to upscale.
the quality of source is very important,if u upscale a DVD video it will look great obviously won't look as good as a HD video.but lets say u buy a DVD or download a video or still use cable wala RF out or even their STB with composite out with heavy compression then there is nothing much the upscaler can do.

I saw a spec somewhere where it said the LG32LF20FR is 1920x1080 ro something similar. That is why I assume it must be full HD.

Samsung A450 mentioned is a good one, I have one myself. I bought it for 36K last diwali. It is a HD Ready i.e. 720p and DTH in SD would work very fine with it. Plus, in 32" screen 1080p is not going to give u dramatic improvement over 720p. ANd even u don't go for A450, go for B450. Sammy makes realyy good LCDs. Stay away from LG.

more far you go less black spots you see in HD panels. Now if someone is thinking to get same quality in SD, DTH, cable waalah..like if watching 1080p transformers 2 :P

then have some weed, it may look HD to you :P

Go for your samsung with eyes closed, you are not thinking about 1080p on 32incher... 720P for you is totally fine for now..even if you think of HD ever. ..

By the way, at the dealer I visited, the LG 32" on display (not sure if it was LH20 or LF20) looked far better than the sammy and sony models in terms of contrast and sharpness. I asked him point blank if he was promoting LG over the other brands as I have started to expect this after VU outshone all other brands at Croma.

Yes, I dont know the model, but the last time I visited TMC Hyderabad, a 32" LG looked lot better than the rest. Maybe its the setting, maybe not.

well that can happen, usualy sharpness can be toned up in the LG or toned down in the samsung/sony vice versa or in anyother brand.unless the LG use VA based panel its contrast won't be higher.

Owner of LG32LF20FR and i can see the difference. My friend has sony bravia 32 model with tata sky but surprising my lg one with local cable+setup box performs better than tata sky with more fine edges and nice contrast, brightness compared to sony. dnt know why and cheap also.

Surprising!.. So, are people suggesting that LG is better off than Sony for a 32"?

This Diwali, I will surely buy a 32" and I guess the deal has to be b/w Samsung or LG. How would they compare???

Emil, check this week's ebay offer, samsung 32LB450 is selling for 25k, icing on the cake is we can get a free gift in diwali offer. I might be ordering one for my friend.

well it could be depends upon which years bravia u are comparing, tata sky isn't know for picture quality, atleast when i compare them to a big tv or even airtel digital tv.

BTW at 25k for a 32B450 is a steal.

The ebay offer is from a Delhi based dealer. Would it be advisable to order that to be shipped to Mumbai?
Look carefully.......he's offering dealer warranty and not manufacturer warranty......what happens if something goes wrong ?.........If you have to ship it to Delhi, its going to cost you a fortune.
