Is the Startup India Action Plan really that startup-friendly?
Let us look at some important steps: . Definition of a startup: This really is the most fundamental question that
comes up. When such policies are
announced for startups, it is important
to know who would even fall within
that definition. None of our present
statutes define ‘startups’ and therefore, it was important that the
government came up with a definition
that was broad enough to avoid
disappointments.

An interesting read. I know that our PM and this govt. likes to make tall claims and promises but such things in India are often not how they are meant to be. We'll know about this one after its being put to some rigorous tests!

Its a joke. Had a good hearty laugh over it. They said achhe din ane wale hai. Minimum govt maximum governance and all those catchy phrases, instead they are doing the opposite. Forget making doing business easy for the common man, they've given up on that, instead now they create a parallel track which they advertise as some big shit but to get any of those very mediocre benefits you need to be "certified" by a "Inter-Ministerial Board". I dont understand how this is not being ridiculed across the country. Its a frigging joke.

Ye I'll be honest, AccheDin is a joke. And this so-called "support for startup" will also be joke. Just waiting for it to hit the wall. You heard it here first (Jan 21, 2016. 11:14pm :P).
About the "investing <insert any zero after 1>rs" part only people with some "engg." background may have a chance to get funded. There are just too many pillars which you have to run to, to get some noticeable benefit. So I really am not sure why people have already started praising the PM for this without doing a ground reality check. :/

Take a bow! You deserve this!

Cause they are sycophants. Any sane person can see through the bullshit. You read the Yourstory articles. Its all just managing headlines. Nothing of substance.

Yep. I did a small research while planning my own thing and what i got really surprised me. Pretty much threw me back to reality and I gave up on it. So now i just wanna know, what kind of people/"startups" are they referring to when they said they will support them or give assistance? I don't know if this is location specific but even DONER people, who have been claiming to help the budding entrepreneurs in the NE, are not how i thought they would be. But thats a lesson in itself I guess: Investors suck!

1. Ventures in which their politicians have a stake or might get a stake.
2. Ventures through which politicians will be able to siphon funds to their own coffers.

I mean look at the attack on Greenpeace. Both Congress and BJP politicians have black money investments in ventures of the kind for which Greenpeace is seen as a menace. Congress still never dared to touch them, but as soon as BJP came into power, they attacked and aggressively in order to shut them down. Do you seriously think that any thing that comes from such a party would be ultimately anything more than self serving.

These sort of ventures are always self serving first and foremost (vote banks or money), but some times they may happen to coincidentally do some good for some people, though they might not be the same people who are funding those schemes.

Well shit. Around 60% of the existing startups could be ineligible LOL.
http://yourstory.com/2016/01/startup-india-action-plan-eligible/
Let’s take the example of startups who
are engaged in creating and
developing online marketplaces like
Flipkart and Amazon. So a new startup engaged in the same field may not be eligible unless its product is significantly improved than what existing players provide.

Another eligibility criteria states that the startup should get a recommendation letter from the recognized incubator cell or be recognized by the GoI or should be funded by recognized funds. Now this will be quite a task for startups.
Now I'd like a list of the companies which qualify for the scheme. -_-
If a startup is so innovative or inspiring or offers a great product it wouldn't need the govt. scheme in the first place, would it? The only thing which they can benefit is the free tax for the first few years or lower tax. Till then it will just be another over-hyped gimmick to me.
