My old PC has started to throw tantrums!!
Config:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 CPU
2GB DDR2 RAM
Biostar 785 motherboard
500GB HDD
Sapphire 6670 GFX card
PSU - Colorsit
Windows 7
It was restarting all of a sudden without any BSOD. Sometimes it restarted just after starting the PC.
First I did a fresh installation of OS.
No improvement.
Then I found that if I remove the GFX card then the PC runs without any problem. Confirmed it by running the PC without GFX card for 3-4 days. Whenever the GFX card is plugged in the problem reappeared. Confirmed by repeating the process.
I recently updated the ATI GFX driver. So thought that could a problem. To check made an fresh installation of XP in a separate partition. Same as before.
So concluded the GFX card may be faulty. Purchased a 6670. To my horror after plugging it in the PC restarted as before a number of times.
So, thinking the PCIE slot may be defective
. If so, the motherboard will have to be changed. I don't want to upgrade the processor and RAM now - so is there any AM2+ mobo still available with DDR2 support?
If NO - then what could be the VFM upgrade for mobo+CPU?[DOUBLEPOST=1378972848][/DOUBLEPOST]Come on guys!!
