Is there anyway to unlock iPhone 4S

Guys, by mistake one of my friends has bought a locked iphone 4S from US (locked to AT&T).

Is there anyway I can get this unlocked?

Firmware: 5.0.1

baseband (Mobile Firmware): in 1 series (not updated I think)

Model: iphone 4S 32GB

Need to gift this phone to my dad. Any pointers/ways to unlock even through gevy, etc would be very very helpful

Also, if this is not unlockable How much can I sell this for in India? Its a brand new phone

I've heard gevy is rolling out new sim in February end for OS 5.0.1.... wait till then or else you can sell it for around 34-35k...

EDIT: Just read it's 32GB. You can sell it for around 40-42k

I don't think anyone will pay this much for a locked phone in India.

I suggest you wait for unlock which is just near. Then sell at correct price

Are there any new developments on the front of the new Gevey SIM except the announcement by Applenberry on their FB page.

Nope, but better wait till last week of feb

I don't think there is any unlock coming, There is no unlock for iphone 4 released after aug 2011 ie with baseband above than 1.58.00 . I will not suggest using a gevey, its just too much of a hassel. IMO sell it and get a unlocked phone.

New Gevey sim to unlock iPhone 4s has been announced and is available for pre-order for $55.

Only problem is that billing address for credit card should match the shipping address.

Also will work only on GSM phones like AT&T and not on world phones as provided by Sprint.

No news for unlock of baseband 4.11.08 for iPhone 4 users.
