Are the thermal take range of CPU coolers available here....I need a 478 and 1 775 socket cooler....I've heard lots about the volcano 7 series for 478 and what would u suggest for 775 on a budget of 2K.....(please don't mention star ice as my personal op is its crap and i can get it for 1000/- bucks from asus singapore directly....)

I also heard of cooler master in Delhi and have been contacted for a dealership from one SMC international.....

How are cooler master as a brand.....he has offered to send me a CM centurion case for trying out....I don't believe CM is available in Chennai....though I plan for a dealership in Indore as we have many options here....in Chennai

Can anyone comment on cooler master as a brand....cabinets, PSU's and coolers....

Personally speaking is the hyper 48/hyper 6 a good choice for an amd dual core?? I don't plan on overclocking just for the CPU to run cooler than stock??

Coolermaster is a pretty good brand, atleast IMO much better than Thermaltake!

The Hyper6/Hyper48 is pretty decent. And a lot of guys here swear by the CM Stacker as the big daddy of cabinets.

Contact Prime ABGB, Mumbai for your Thermaltake orders. But remember, it'll
cost more than it usually does in case of supplies with proper channel.

Cooler Master makes very good cabinets like WaveMaster and Stacker. I never
liked their Praetorian or Centurian cases. Their PSUs are of above average quality,
not in the same league of Antecs, Silverstone, PCP&C etc, but good nonetheless.
Hyper 48 is a bad cooler, IMHO. But Hyper 6+ is a different story. The heavy
weight aside, it performs quite well. Though, you're better off with XP90c or
XP120 or Scythe Ninja if you can get these easily.

^^The new praetorian 730 is quite good if you can accept the styling. Being a wavemaster owner, I myself cant seem to like the styling. Infact it is supposed to be the wavie's replacement. Of the current crop of coolers available in india, Hyper 6+ is probably the best. Saw it here in bangalore for 2000 bucks. Other than big typhoon and smart blue LED fans, thermaltake pretty much sucks.

Thermaltake aFAIK is not available here. CoolerMaster and Antec is to only Foreign company parts available here. PrimeABGD, Lamington Road stocks both.

But they have outrageous prices.

Well Hyper 6 is good if you dont mind its heavyness.

If you have some sources in SG then try to get Scythe SCNJ-1000 Ninja or TR SI-120 or TR XP-90.

CM is very good brand. But their centurion 5 is not great case at all. It has sharp edges inside. SWITCH has used it and he did not like it and after seeing it with my own eyes i must agree with him.

They PSUs are very good but expensive. Very expensive. The price cannot justify their purchase as you can get Antec PSUs for similar price.

Buddy
why is the hyper 48 bad.....lemme know as I have narrowed it down to the hyper 48 and hyper 6......pls note that this will go on a X2 4400+ which will NEVER be OC'ed....but may run 12-4 hours nonstop for vid editing....but never more than 18 hours (we gotta sleep sometimes)........

I repeat NO OC'ing.......this will be housed in an Antec P180 chassis....with 2 maybe 4 HDD's 250GB 16 MB buffer SATA 2.0's from either maxtor, hitachi or WD.....

The card used will be a 7800GT from MSI/Asus

Just mentioning this so u can guage the heat level.....And pls give me a link to compare the Hyper 6 and hyper 48...

@ the TE member who saw the hyper 6 in Bangalore....where exactly friend.....cause I have my offices there as well & can get it.....
help pls??

And Thanks guys for all the chassis feedback and PSU's.......I think the major problem will be the pricing......I will probably be going to delhi to meet the SMC guy...as I have some work in Nehru place...but later on next month....around the 22nd....

Well, if you are not going to be oc'ing the X2, then why invest in a third party HSF??

The stock is more than enough for the job. Even for light oc'ing, it is enough and if you are not going to be oc'ing, no use in buying a HSF..

At this moment I have ordered a Hyper 48 from SMC and it should have been purchased from them by now - it was priced at 2500/- by SMC and 3100/- by their Mumbai retailer !!!

I narrowed it down to the Hyper 48 after reading the reviews by SilentPCReview whose opinions I rate as amongst the best. I did not want to take the Hyper 6 after reading in the SPCR review the problems they had in installing it - the mounting clip is supposed to be a nightmare to install. At times I have 10 thumbs and no patience so I am scared I would destroy the mother board installing this copper monstrosity. I dont over clock so heat will never be an issue in my system.

I read the same article....but some guys here said that the hyper 48 was no good...and the 6 was better....I agree its a monstrosity......remind u of the WTC (world trade cen....);) no offense meant to the folk there...but it may cause a disaster on our boards....
BTW I don't plan an OC as well, just wanna run my CPU cool...
And Easy....would u recommend transporting a PC with a HSF like the hyper 48 installed???

I would not recommend that  ...

Those may be seure but not adviseable to transport at all... Specially with a 7800 GTX 512 below it...

Why is the EDIT not working in this forum anymore - I wanted to include a reply to Nikhils POST but could not EDIT my earlier POST....

..... BECAUSE when I open the side panel you see a nice shiny piece of hardware ..... Ahhhh !!!..... good show off value :) .... thats the only reason for me. My idle CPU temps have always been within 2C of the room temp.

YUP SPCR ROCKS !!

AND if I am not mistaken the max recommended weight for heat sinks by both Intel and AMD is 450gms or thereabouts.

In the SPCR review of the Hyper 48 they have compared this HS with the Zalman 7000a which I use currently ....and.... it seems to be better in cooling - on top of that I have already purchased a higher speed (1850-3100RPM) variable speed thermo-controlled Vantec fan for the Hyper 48 so I should be better off with it compared to my Zalman.

Don't the noise levels bother you??
And another guy said he saw the hyper 6 in Bangalore for 2K, shouldn't the hyper 48 be cheaper???
Anyone in Chennai, Bangalore??

The noise level of the Vantec 92mm Thermoflo is 29db which is fine for me. The 2k price in Bangalore was at an exhibition with special low prices. I was quoted 3.7k for the Hyper 6 by the SMC retailer in Mumbai :(

SMC have someone in Bangalore for CM products....Mr Lalit, Zoom Computers 98454 55890

I live in down town Mumbai next to a very busy street - below my house is a Pizza Parlour and a Video Games Parlour and across the street are 2 colleges - can you imagine the noise I have to live with !! The good side to all this is that all the street noises drowns the sound of the case fans :)

Well, Hyper48 isn't THAT bad really. It's just that I never liked its design and
it doesn't quite perform upto the level of similar coolers available in market.

Hyper 6 is heavy, of course, becasue of its all copper design. You should have
asked for Hyper 6+, which is 'al-fins cu-base' design. It's much lighter than its
older sibling, due to the replacement of copper fins with aluminium ones. Still
it's slightly on the heavier side, and may not be compatible with many cabinets.

One of the main points that put me off the Hyper 6 is that it uses a dedicated fan and it is not possible to use your own fan on this HS... in fact read this page for "the BAD" about this Heatsink - they put me off this HSF.

http://www.silentpcreview.com/article167-page5.html

I dont think SMC have the Al version .... the Hyper 6+ ..... in stock - at least they did not mention it in their list. I prefer Al Heatsinks as copper gets black and green and UGLY in Mumbai's high humid climes.

tthe SMC ppl dont know jack ass of what they got... I will try to find it out for you... keep bumbing in the thread... my friend is in NP itself... Will ask him if the Hyper 6+ is there or not...

P.S. When i phycisally saw the heat sink there it was Hyper 6+(The alu version) abt a month back... Dont know what they got now.... But i beleive they must have the Alu version only as the copper version is faced out...

By now my Hyper 48 must have been bought from SMC so there is nothing I can do about getting the Hyper 6+ :(

WTF .... so the price I got of 3.7k for the Hyper 6 from Mumbai would have been for Al model !! :O THAT is highway robbery !!!
