Laptops Is this a good buy ??

good but raks but try to get the A300 series and try to avoid AMD coz i have 2 different laptops one on AMD and one on Intel i feel intel is better coz of less heating problems and hte the laptop u are trying to purchase has Ati 3100 ,i wouls ay its bad ,try to look for bdetter deals or ask some one from US to get it to Cannada i would recommend u the one i picked up its a great lappy at that price

btb wats ur budget

@metalspree

Actually this laptop is not for me for my dad and he requires it for his normal accounting purpose. My requirement is to have a laptop with minimum 15" screen size (and hence cant go for those netbooks). I suppose this lappy is comparatively cheaper since it has AMD. Moreover i am not much concerned about the graphics card. But you said it has ATi 3100 and it is not good. I mean in what sense it is not good ?

I was previously going for dell but i found this to be cheaper effectively less than 700$ (after Tax) approx less than 30k INR.

BTW i will be myself buying the A300 with 4GB,320GB config but not any time soon :(

hi rak_007 ,if u are gonna gift the lappy to your dad ,its a good choice and as u mentioned that the lappy is for basic office application's and not for heavy usage ,and btb ATI 3100 is nt that great if u plan to play some of the latest games ,i am not sure how it is compared nVidia i guess ita 7xxx series in the nvidia ,but the lappy what u have chosen is a good one :)

hey thanks for the suggestions. BTW i finally got the Toshiba Satellite L300D. The config is as follows

2GB/160GB/1.9Ghz AMD proccy, Wifi, webcam, speakers, 3 USB, VGA out, DVD writer. 15.4" screen. The better part, there was a sale going on in one of the malls here and the same lappy was being sold for 529$ + 13% tax i.e. effectively 24k for this toshiba laptop.

good but rak_007,congrats mate, y dont u start a GO in TE :ohyeah: ,24K is bloody cheap for the config ,u will certainly not find one in India
