Need suggestion for VFM laptop
Got two options from asus. At first look it looks are good deal; what u think, is it a good buy or I can buy i5 in the same proce range...??

Well, you can definitely get i3 laptops from DELL/ACER @31k. If you can increase your budget, there 5740G with i5 and 5650 @44-45k IIRC.

Core i3 is capable of running 4 Threads rather than 2 Threads as Core2Duo's do...
Core2Duo's will soon be replaced by Core i3..
so,why not but it now? ;)
