PC Peripherals Is this config fine ?

I am buying a " entertainment PC" mainly for watching movies and occasionally playing games. Not the highest order in games but at the same more than basic games like EA cricket or Hitman 2. ( old games like far cry, far cry 2 or Max Payne 2 should run comfrtably on it.) and new games like assassin's creed or Dragon Age ( is it asking for too much ? :)

I have made up a config of My own based on advice from various kind people on this forum. Your inputs on this would be highly appreciated. My budget is 40k at the most and I plan to run windows 7.

(FOR ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS PLEASE GIVE THE PRICE AS WELL OR ANY PRICE CORRECTIONS IF NEEDED.)

HERE IS THE CONFIG

Processor - Intel quad core Q8400 ( Rs. 8150)

RAM - Transcend 2GB DDR3 - (Rs 2650)

Motherboard: Asus M2N68-AM PLUS - Rs 2300

GPU: Palit 9600GT 512MB DDRIII - Rs 4500

HDD: Seagate 500GB SATAII 7200.12 series- Rs 2400

Cabinet: CM Elite 334 - Rs 2200

SMPS: Gigabyte Superb 460W - Rs 2200

Optical Drive: L.G. GH22NS30 SATA/Samsung SH-S22F SATA - Rs 1100

UPS - Rs 2800 ( money of speakers/ if available for cheaper all the good )

Monitor: BenQ 22" T2200HD Rs 8600 / Samsung S2233SW - Rs 9400 OR Monitor: Samsung S2033SW - Rs 7000

Keyboard: Logitech Multimedia - Rs 500

Mouse: Logitech Optical - Rs 400

Hmm... Isn't the AMD processor slower than Intel. Everybody seems to say so and from whatever I have read. Correct me if i am wrong.

If you can't spend 2.5k extra now then buy the 2gb Transcend DDR3 1333mhz @ 2.6k in 1 or 2 months later.

Don't compromise on ATI 4870 and DDR3 combo.

...and buy a hammer, some cutting tools and fevicol to force an intel processor and a ddr3 ram on an intel am2+ board (which uses only ddr2 btw)

No disrespect but you're a guy who paired physically incompatible products, so its pretty obvious should leave the thinking to the people who know what they are saying.

Ok. Thanks to all.

OK. Everyone has given me a config slightly in access of 40k. Can anyone give me a config with 35k as the limit ? With DDR3 combo and a quad core processor ?

I gave you a rig with 41k .

Is 1k such a huge increment from you budget ?

Why don't you make up your mind ?

Why don't you follow the format prescribed for asking help ?

Sorry dude. Have been having too many things on my mind. N the sudden budget constraint is another story in itself. ( comes from being a novice, i guess.) I saw another member's similar request for a budget gaming PC and have decide on the config provided by "Karthi07". Thanks a lot for your help too. And Karthi's config will go a bit beyond 35k but less than 40 and will do.

N sorry again for the confused and repeated pestering.
