Scary??

whats ur core 0 doing :O ? u have C1E enabled :S and have u given a task specific to core 0 ? ....temps do seem on the higher side.....try this , reboot the pc , disable C1E and post back....make sure no processing in on and its complete idle'in....

Lol this seems because of improper heatsink fitting or badly applied goop.

8% load does not mean temps can be 20c higher.

Check if you can re fit the heatsink after some cleaning and applying proper amount of thermal paste.

Even with 100% load 59c will be a temp on the higher side.

try reattaching your heatsink as ultimabasher said.

59c on core is not too bad.

That can be called as medium temps.

If they cross 70 then its bad.

Remember its the core temp and not the ambient temp. Core temp will be quite higher all the times.

The ambient temps on the cover has to be near to 30 - 35

it may not be that bad but he still needs to take a second look at it.

cmon,..59c @ 8% load??

and i am taking a shot in the dark at this but shouldn't the temp be the same across all the cores? that will indicate that the load is being distributed evenly on all the cores.

Idle temps don't mean a dime... check load temps by running orthos for fifteen minutes and then post back.

If they go beyond 75 degrees, stop. There is a problem. Also, tell us what is th ambient temperature in your room. Give approx figure.

Ok i did disable C1E and the temperatures still remain the same.. Core # 0 at 59C.. the funny part is that i purchased this processor 3 days back from CE.. installation, etc done by CE.. i haven't even installed all software's and its like this??

Can u suggest some guide on refitting the heat sink.. i m a n00b at assembling PC parts.. i did see the assembling at CE but he was way too quick.. lol

I'l run the test and post back..
As for room temp its about 25C.. its already cold in delhi so temp would be low..

Further here's a report (temperature part) from Everest..

Code:
CPU 26 °C (79 °F)
CPU #1 / Core #1 59 °C (138 °F)
CPU #1 / Core #2 38 °C (100 °F)
GPU Diode 45 °C (113 °F)
Seagate ST3500320AS 35 °C (95 °F)
Seagate ST380011A 33 °C (91 °F)

The CPU is at 26C.. cores are so hot?

Thanks for all suggestions!

After running orthos for 5 mins.. results..

Before i do the 15 mins test just wanted to confirm whether there's any chance of damage to the CPU.. i mean its a new processor.. u know what i mean..

Thanks!

^^, if the above screenie is right and you are running orthos for last five minutes, it dis a quite strange issue. you are getting same temps at load as well as idle :O

I think most likely the culprit is bad heat sink installation but honestly I am not sure. Let others post before reaching a conclusion

60 degree on full load with orthos is quite ok but 59 degree on 2-10% load is very bad for a 45 nm CPU. If heatsink fitting was problem, shouldn't both cores be smoking hot ? Why only one :-/ .

Yup the 59C is same with orthos and when its idle..

The report (temperature part) from Everest shows this (when idle)

Code:
CPU 26 °C (79 °F)
CPU #1 / Core #1 59 °C (138 °F)
CPU #1 / Core #2 38 °C (100 °F)
Why is the CPU temp so low?

You have a faulty sensor on mobo/cpu . I am quite sure that ur core0 is not really reaching that temp. At ideal, cpu is very near to your room temp ( 405 degree more ) if your rig has proper air circulation.

Well i purchased a new mobo Gigabyte G31 with a new processor E7300.. cooling should not be an issue with Coolermaster Elite 334..

so what do i do? switch back to my old PIV?? maybe?

if you can reattach the cpu and heatsink yourself then well and good. but if you cant, i suggest you take your cpu and motherboard back to the dealer to check it again.

yup. Its a heatsink issue. Just get it reinstalled and make sure you dont apply the 10rs chuna as thermal paste :P

Besides, how much you got your G31 for?
