Is VoIP fully LEGAL in India ?

In response to Bennie for the following issue " In India, it is legal to use VoIP, but it is illegal to have VoIP gateways inside India. This effectively means that people who have PCs can use them to make a VoIP call to any number, but if the remote side is a normal phone, the gateway that converts the VoIP call to a POTS call should not be inside India." (Should not be without license)
What does it means ?
Answer is : If you are to call a Voip to Voip like skype it is legal in India, but if you want to call an Indian Landline or mobile number in India the gateway (In India there are only four gateways namely- Bharti, TATA, Reliance & Sify) will not allow to terminate calls in Indian phones be it landline or mobile. Skype calls to Indian phones has recently been closed in November,2014. In this case you are forced to call by your land line or mobile.
Now if you are to call Australia or US, Canada, New Zealand, UK landline, mobile etc you can call them easily via Voip phone at a much cheaper rate. For this you will have to buy voip minutes from these voip providers in bulk. They don't give you retail minutes or in postpaid. They charge for minimum 5000 minutes in bulk in prepaid. This is the package which the call centres buy and call these countries. It is legal & backbone of Indian Call centre industry.
Or else you can use any gateway that is outside India to call any number in the world over voip, using is not illigal. If you want, search for those 4 service provider in your area to provide you connection.
