I have heard that wimax is being launched in some parts of delhi this month and some say that it can reach speeds close to 70 Mbps.Also it won't be expensive compared to other options:ohyeah: :ohyeah:

So my question is will it ever be a replacement for our home broadband internet and how long it will take to cover the whole of india.What are its disadvantages( if any) and will there be any download limits for home use??

So... how many years is it gonna take for ppl to start using WiMax... If Im not wrong, I heard we'll b getting WIMAX in Mumbai in July'06... and isnt it Jan'07 now!!

once implemented wimax no isp will have a monopoly as wimax is OTH wireless technology and no wiring needed either. so its time to play the waiting game

yes... wimax is not for individuals.. its too costly for individuals man.

but its definately a good thing for major companies. .or even societies that might wanna take wimax.

bsnl has updated wimax tariff plans

:: BSNL WiMax ::

But dont know whether the service is started everywhere.

heard from a source it will be up in a month ludhiana etc.

seems they are not providing night unlimited free in limited plans.

interesting pricing.

is the "FMC" fixed monthly charges only Rs 30 + 40 per month? No need to buy the CPE/USB this time?

then its quite decent (relative to other current plans) for about rs 1k per month for 512k UL...

Hey comeone Wimax is for individuals too.I am Using VSNL 784KBPS plan for 1.6K per month,here in Nagpur.
The downtime---never for a sec in last 7 months.Even in rains.Yes its that stable.
Wimax is the future technology.
