My xfx8600gt just died. I want to buy new card. Is xfx 9600gt 512mb good enough for me?

Budget is 5k

And on XFX's site, it says it requires min. 600W of power supply(could be typo?)
btw my system config.:
Intel P4 3GHz Processor
Intel 915GEV mobo
Coolermaster 460w extreme power psu

Yes its good enough.. Infact, i think your processor isnt good enough for a 9600GT. So my suggestion would be HD4670 512MB. Reasons:

+Marginally behind 9600GT in performance terms

+Consumes much less power, so you can feel safe cause your power supply isnt so good (quality matters more than rated watts)

+Costs less, and hence better VFM @ Rs. 4k

-None

Last year when my xfx 8600 gt died under warrenty, I upgraded it to xfx 9600 GT 512mb by paying Rs 1500/- extra cash. Its a good card. You can play all games in med settings. I used it on a 19" monitor. I uses corsair 450 vx power supply. I didn't faced any issues so far.

You can add 400-500rs more and get a palit or zotac 9800gt . Cpu will be a bottleneck but you can always upgrade it later , performance will definately be higher even with a p4. Also your PSU is good enough for 9800gt , no worry at all here .

Why not XFX? I've been using XFX for quite sometime now, performing flawlessly. I bought the 8500GT, it went kaput after sometime, so I got a 9500GT as a replacement.

Although Rashi is def infamous for their customer service.

or buy a second hand ATI HD4850 which should easily come in your budget considering I saw a HD 4870 for 7.5k.

The HD 4850 will be better than the 9600GT / 9800GT / 9800GTX

ATi is catching on pretty well, but you'll def face bottleneck issues.

Your computer is as fast as its slowest component.

^^ Not really true, for games the importance of a GPU is under-rated, and a proccy is over-rated. Although agree his processor is ancient, and there will be no real difference in performance between a 4670, and a 9600GT on that system.
