my Config:
CPU: Intel Q6600 Quad core
MOBO: Intel
Ram: 4 GB
GPU: 5760 Sapphire 1Gb DDR5 (2 yrs old)
PSU: Corsair (2 yrs old)
HDD: 250gb Samsung sata

AGE of system: 6 years old

Problem: My system suddenly (without any worning / noise / buzzer) goes OFF and starts again. The problem mainly occurs while starting the system, once I click the start botton... the system starts (the processor fan, Cabinet fan starts) and then jus within 3-4 sec it switches off and restarts, this repeats. After a few attempts the system will start and if the luck is besides me... it will run smooth for Hours (allowing me to plays games for hours). but sometimes it may go off after 10-15 mins....

Suspect: My first doubt was since it was raining heavily from last 1 month and my system is located close to the Window.. i thought it was affected with moisture..

So I dismantelled all the components, cleaned the dust, blew off dust, blowed hot air (mild) and assembled again.
Still the same problem.

please let me know ... if someone has any idea wht might be wrong with my system.

Regards,
AliveHunter

Same problem occurs in my pc though too rare.. especially during monsoons.. Probably moisture I guess..
But would still like to know the exact cause

on a second thought... it might also be a faulty PSU issue....[DOUBLEPOST=1376331291][/DOUBLEPOST]how do i check and conform that its indeed a PSU fault..
its Corsair CX V2 430W ..

If PC starts when you press cabinet start button and then restarts itself , then this is due to " Reset Wire " of Cabinet sorting your system.
Check the wire of reset switch cum plug that goes from cabinet start button to mobo is loose or exposed to the metallic part of cabinet or not.If any part of this wire is exposed then just tape it

initially even i suspected the reset and the power botton... did a thoroug check.... infact i had dismantalled the complete front pannel... and tried diectly shorting the pins on the MOBO to start..
but the same problem ...

can someone help me with the CORSAIR SUPPORT... number and contact details. Address.
I tried contacting on : 18004255464... but no one answers !!!
i am from mumbai.
[DOUBLEPOST=1376413807][/DOUBLEPOST]Huh!!!
did a paper clip test ... as spcified on the Corsair website .. with a fan...
PSU worked perfect...
Also tested the MOBO with another PSU ... ... which again gave the same problem...

so my conclusion will be ... MOBO seems to be the problem.[DOUBLEPOST=1376452748][/DOUBLEPOST]Please suggest what should i do...
Should i check to repair the MOBO?
Should I replace the MOBO... (In this case i will have to go for a low cost MOBO..)
Or is there a posiibility that the Prolem is with the CPU??

Pls help.

If you have a multimeter, check the 12v rail voltages from a spare molex plug when system is running. Check from yellow and black wires. The red wire is 5v.
If power supply is bad, you will get less than 12v, somewhere around 10v, and you will need to replace the psu. Sometimes psu's fail during operation due to high load. This might be causing your system to be unstable and not boot properly.

But then i have checked using my friends PSU also... still gives me the same problem.

So You did re setting RAM's ?
PSU looks fine which leaves only your mobo as prime faulty suspect. How old is your mobo and did you ever found system hanging here and there ?
If yes then it might be due to bad capacitor on your mobo....i had twice faced same problems like yours and both time it was bad capacitors.....first might be bugling from top or loose capacitors almost hanging out from sockets.

If possible get a spare mobo to check your system.

MOBO is around 5.5yrs old.

Any loose or bugling caps on it ?
From my experience its more like caps gone bad than anything else...
Try to source a mobo to check your all other system components till you are sure its mobo thats faulty.
If you are from metro city then take it to some mobo repair shop and get it done for mere 200 bucks...or buy a new one.

Hey mate, I had some similar experience with my mobo. My mobo use to first start then shut and then restart to complete the POST BIOS but unlike yours it always took one restart to completely start. Then one day I got a power surge and my system started behaving as yours for about a week and now even if you don't press the power button the system starts but no POST BIOS occurs and only fans and LED run. I had two PSUs both working but gave same result. I tried clearing CMOS , disassembling and reassembling but nothing worked. But sure if components fails we do get beep codes but I got none. So I was pretty sure my mobo is dead. Right now I am trying to get a new mobo. Maybe you have the same problem.
