I too never trust DTDC. Last week when i had a talk with WD flextronics people for shipping back my HDD for RMA they told that they had tied up with DTDC in west zone and i flatly refused to send my HDD via DTDC and told them that DTDC are all thieves who open parcel in transit and take away things :@

Blue dart IMO is a very reliable courier.

So whats the thread about?.

Seller tried to save shipping costs and the item flicked by dtdc?. Talk abt series of unfortunate events. :(.

now a days whenever i send a parcel i tape it myself and sign it with my name all over the tape along the edges and also take a picture of the packed parcel before giving it to the courier people!
Yeah ! I too do the same. Please try to make this a habit guys!

Yes, and i try and use a specific old dates newspaper to pack it all around and tell the guy reciveing it that it will be in that days newspaper !
Makes it look old + security and tape it so it can only be torn off. I sent a PSP to anish_sha a couple of days back using dtdc and the same technique.

I think now we need to device unique techniques of theft proof, theft identification techniques to pack goods and send in courier. The one suggested above by Karan is indeed very good method.

Doesn't matter how much bulletproof we make the packing, they can easily tear it off and repack....even if we don't accept the set,its lost na?DTDC Blue has a tamper-proof cover that they wrap around the parcel, but even that was absent in my case,so just consider how silly they must consider DTDC management to have done something like that??

If we insure with them for the full amount, will we get full amount ??If so, that seems the ONLY way to ensure that even though device is lost, monetary losses are not there for the customer.

I for one would do something similar to what i did before when i was getting screwed by Airtel.

Shoot email with proper details to DTDC email addresses with CCed to all other courier company (bluedart, AFL, etc etc).

nothing is going to happen in the end , just accept the loss and move on!

At least they gotta pay Rs 4000 which was the actual insured amount :P...plus the RS 250 courier charges !
Once I had sent a camera via DTDC Plus which is guaranteed 2 days delivery....it got delivered in 4th day...I went and claimed my Rs 220 back :)...even for that guarantee think I had to fire mails to senior management people. Unfortunately sans Blue Dart and TNT to some extent everyone else is a thief in this courier business. There is no fear at all in the franchises/delivery boys as most of them are local thugs which even police is afraid off.

Not so true. I bought a Casio watch from ebay last year and the seller sent it via India speed post. Never arrived and they told me later that many parcels got delayed in Delhi because of the common wealth games. Kalmadi is already in prison for that, but I never got my package !!!

Anyways, got a refund from ebay, but it was too much of a hassle and mental tension.

I don't know why people do not use India post, cheap and best I'd say!
I haven't heard of any case of theft/loss by them, and they are decently fast as well. Out of the 12-13 times I've used India post, only once was something delayed beyond a week. I've had parcels reach within two days to Bangalore, and within three days to Odisha from Chandigarh. Also, they don't ask any questions and any declaration etc. and their tracking is also decent, better than DTDC.

Add Blazeflash to the fraud list.

What I observed for DTDC :D

Never alarm them for parcel by inquiring where it has reached or when it will come. Just let it come by own safe & sound.

No amount of smart packing and duct taping and sealing in a peculiar manner is gonna save an article from getting stolen.

Why would a thief care how in a secure, safe and tamper proof manner one has packed the article??

So, unless one decides to ship the goods in a steel vault with a combination or electronic lock or biometric security, there is no way that smart packing is gonna prevent an article from getting stolen!

i think we should make a list of shipping services that should not be used , and the no of instances of bad experience with them .

and can list them in worst to best manner .

would do good to community .

Its clear that seller has forged the document showing 14000 as insured amount to save on shipping also The handwritting on both bills is similar also was the packing torn off ,i doubt dtdc people would do that kind of thing for a expensive thing, they are sure to be caught ,if you have any friends in chennai it would be better.

its ridiculous to see ppl commenting that i forged the papers without even knowing anything
what right do u guys have to say whatever u like??

the thing is last 3days i was in vizag and communicating with dtdc office wud just have given them more time to react till i arrive here
I reached home today at 4am in the morning and at 7am i have transferred 9K to THE OP
i wud ask imrahn to check his acc and confirm

I then went to dtdc office now
They are saying they have insured it for 4k and not 14k
The guy with whom i dealt could not be found,

on the day i shipped
i reached their office at 10am sharp so that i cud please the OP
a guy was sweeping the floors and no one was around
i asked him about shipping a mobile and he said sorry sir we dont ship mobiles
before going there i had gone to bluedart and they said charge for a mobile with value 14k insured will be around 3000,i was shocked,
since i had recieved many phones thru dtdc b4 i thought i can persuade them and send the cell

After lot of enquiring the guy said ok he will send it by dtdc blue
He showed me some pin code chart where kollam was not listed as serviceable for national blue
the nearest was kottayam
i called the OPs phone but it was not reachable
by then it was 11am
I opened internet and saw the distance between kollam and kottayam was 90kms and 1hour by train
The dtdc fellow told me that even though we mention kottayam the parcel will automatically be transferred to kollam
After the farce of finding the nearest pin code the dtdc guy told me to insure the item, i said let it be 14k
he said 410 plus 600 after calculating.
i was completely unsuspecting coz since a year i am getting stuffs from everywhere
he took the parcel inside to weigh it
Then he made the bill inside and came out and handed over the bill to me.
it was my fault that i didnt check the original bill(tell me how many ppl do that before sending, they tell u to sign and u sign, i hope most do so)

Neways i put the paper in my pocket and went away to library for my studies
from library i mailed the OP about the whole incident and that his phone was unreachable.
The OP was ok with it,
before leaving the office the dtdc guy told me, Sir dont ever call the dtdc office and ask them that you are expecting a mobile

I had specifically mailed the OP not to make them desperate or tell them about the mobile part as on bill it was mentioned electronics good!!
The OP after three days visited the kollam dtdc office and inquired about the parcel and kollam office told him it has reached chennai though the main website was never updated

At that point only i got a bit tensed

Why the hell chennai ppl didnt update it on the main website??

Neways the op then told me that he will go to kottayam to pick it up,i told him u can wait but due to anxiety and excitement the op went ahead to the kottayam office and they again made him comeback after few MINUTES!!!

NOW DID THE CHENNAI PPL STOLE IT OR KOTTAYAM??

about the insurance part, yes i have threatened them to file an fir and all but within inside i know i dont have any evidence to back it up
Everything is against me as most members have put forth more faith on dtdc than me including the OP

So even if i get 4k i will try and return atleast 14k to the OP
the phone was not mine and it was a frends whom i almost forced to sell
now the 9k i transferred today is from my pocket, atleast trust this much guys
i dont think they will give me any money before 10-15days
but i will return most part of the OPs money beforehand

I really hope that imrahn supports me in this by accepting 14k
Its not all my fault buddy
I can switch off my mobile and can vanish from TE
not a single ppl of u will be able to find me or extract money but i dont have those ethics.

Now even if u think i am a fraudster and dtdc is all Harischandra
so be it,

i just wish the OP had shown a bit more trust

I am losing about 14k from nowhere now

I have seen many ppl here who wud not get into touch after selling there stuff, i wont name them here but its from my experience!!!!!

i dont expect anything, just wish the OP agrees to it
Will try my best imrahn

by fighting with dtdc i may win but the entrance ahead of me is too big(dont know how many of u know about ALL INDIA PG MEDICAL ENTRANCE, trust me it takes a whole lot of effort and 15days of mental tension wud spell doom on my career!!

i again ask ppl was it all my fault????

I've sent a lot of packages ranging from letters to items like PS3's through DTDC to almost all placed in India & till now didn't have a problem with them.. May be this is the reason!! Though unknown about the security angle that time, i always used to cover the box with some old newspaper, paste the address label on top & then put on clear tape all over it.. I've always done it so neat that a single incision would be easy to spot.. Don't know whether i was lucky or my packing was good, i never had a single problem with DTDC till date..
