No. In my experience, they do accept sealed packages as well. So far, I have had to open the packaging for TNT (coz they check and put on their own seal) and DTDC (they just want to see the contentsbigbyte said:
). Bluedart accepts sealed packages, so does Shree Maruti Courier and First Flight does the same. Atleast that is what has happened to me.

I have always given sealed packages to DTDC and they just asked what I am sending, never bothered to check personally.

The important thing here is to declare the actual product and not necessarily the actual amount. If the amount is less than 5k and they don't understand the actual value of the product.CA50 said:

ok the thread has reached its end it seems
one of our te members had clinched the culprit correctly!! though i am not 100pc sure but 99pc sure!!
So after lot of tactical words,10-15visits to the dtdc office, many phone calls to customercare, many mails shot to cc without any reply, etc etc
i finally nailed the problem.
Story so far:
1.I always shipped my cellphones by dtdc declaring as earphones, gifts etc and never ever faced a problem!
2.This time OP forced me to declare it as a cellphone and insure it, bluedart here asked for about 2-3k roughly(they say it will be by bdart apex service only and minimum fare chrge is for 10kgs so price is high!!)
3.Now dtdc ppl were quite familiar to me, so i preferred them
Now these ppl didnt want to accept the cell giving me all sorts of instances of cellphones being stolen, they said most of their delivery guys steal them but they cant do anything abt it
i was in a fix, tried calling imrahn but cud not reach him
4. I told them to accept it and ship it at my risk after insuring for 14k
5.He said he will use DTDC blue, but never put the parcel in the blue bag infront of me!!
6.After the mishap on 14th may, i was in vizag, reached home on 17th and called dtdc in morning
The guy told me what were u doing since 2 days? i said i was in vizag and ur no was not reachable
He asked what happened to consignment
I said OP didnt recieve it and i explained the scenario
ANYWAYS I WAS SURPRISED WHEN HE SAID , WE WILL 90pc BE ABLE TO TRACE IT!!
A MILLION THANKS TO IMRAHN FOR NOT RECIEVING THE PACKAGE, ( i think these guys were just waiting for us to recieve the package, more on this later)
7.After a day i again called him, he said his staff has spotted a protein powder consignment in Bhubaneswar so if the powder matches with that in kottayam then we will find the guy.
8.During my visit to his office he said which company cell was it and when was the bill date? i said it was my frends cell and i dunno exactly THOUGH IT MAY BE A DELL MODEL
(during shipping i had told him that it was a year old 16k samsung phone just not to make them too curious about this 5 inch awesome phone!!!!!!!!!!)
NOW THE MANAGER SPOILED THE BEANS
HE SAID IT CANT BE SO, THE PHONE YOU SENT WAS THIS BIG( HE SHOWED ME THE SIZE OF DELL STREAK ON HIS TABLE)
I WAS LIKE WHAT????????
SO YOU KNEW THAT???(I just whispered in mind completely shocked to disbelief)
suddenly this guy says actually i was a dell dealer and the box size was too big to be a small phone
hmmmmmm, really>????????

NO DECLARATION WAS THERE THAT I WAS SENDING A CELL(ONLY ELECTRONICS GOODS, AS SUGGESTED BY THEM)
NO IMEI NUMBER WITH ME TO SHOW!!!
so i was tied down from being too flashy about filing a fir to kick their ass
if u file FIR then police will let u take the cell only if u have a bill or atleast the imei(i hope most of u know this)
NOW I WAS LEFT ONLY TO BUTTER HIM AND ASK TACTICALLY TO RETURN THE PHONE,
he was now slightly trying to act as a smartass
He then asked me if mobile tracker was on or not
unknowingly i told him the truth that NO it was not there!!
then the smartass said, "actually sir i have never seen anyone get caught by using IMEI no, so even if u file a fir it wont help!!"
(i was shocked as i thot may be he is now thinking of keeping the cell)
i said very true
(thinking what to tell him next)
i told him a story that a frend of mine had got caught in orissa after buying a cell in gaffar market in delhi, he said really?
i said yes may be the guy in delhi had some good contacts
then the manager said yes must have been
then i said actually i also can use my contacts very well but just that this was a frends cell and i am the mediator, i didnt want to get my dad or uncle involved
he said what is ur dad?
i said he z senior lawyer in Orissa high court and next year being promoted as JUDGE
my uncle is Senior editor in times of india, so i can mobilise them but just want to get this sorted between us. As i wud be scolded for getting into all these stuff.
Then i said the dell streak has a GPS system which can be activated by the help of police( he knew i was bluffing but to prove that i just took out my Galaxy S and opened google maps and pressed my location.......... BINGO it showed us the ROOFTOP of his office with all nearby details!!
He was awestruck
NOW I KNEW AT THAT POINT THAT THEY HAD NO CHANCE BUT TO RETURN THE SET,
i came back and waited yesterday
today morning i called him and he said the mobile has been traced and after few hours delay and all, finally he called me at 5pm to take the cellphone!!
But to my badluck the phone is there but battery is lost,handsfree and microsd also lost (all were in a single polythene bag)
they said airport authorities seized the battery and all
I LOST ALL MY PATIENCE TO FIGHT AGAIN
I FILED FOR A INSURANCE REFUND AS THE ACCESSORIES WUD COST ME 4K ATLEAST
I WILL GET 14K IN A 12DAYS TIME
IN THE MEANTIME I ASKED IMRAHN IF WE CAN STTLE IT PEACEFULLY, I WAS READY TO SEND ANOTHER 8K TO MAKE THE TOTAL AMOUNT 17K
IMRAHN WAS FYNE WITH IT, BUT AT 12:20 AM I SENT HIM 8.4K JUST TO SHOW HIM THAT I REALLY APPRECIATE HIS PATIENCE
SO IMRAHN LOST 1600RS IN THE WHOLE FIASCO

using overnite expressnow on as they really seem professional
have shipped the palm pre plus yesterday and they packed it in the blue bag infront of me and insured it also
350flat for cellphones plus insurance charges..............

but my frend has already spend the amount on a led tv, so best way was to get the cash from insurance
complaint filed and insurance papers signed
i dont think they will play any games now
but please frends dont report this to any higher authority in dtdc atleast till i get back my money

one more thing i forgot was, before going to take the cell and in the process i had promised the dtdc branch to get them sweets if they solved my problem
so i had to keep my word and b4 going i took sweets for them though they were denying to accept but i had to keep my words

Got the 17.4k that he had deposited......but more important than that is the fact that nothing could have been possible if Ayaskant wasn't as eager as myself in getting this mess cleared, and thats a rare quality especially since he already had the full amount with him.He did what all he could to the best of his ability to sort this out and was promptly updating me on the status of the inquiry.This does reinforce the faith in humanity that all is not lost yet, and that there are members who doesnt deal in money alone, but rather back it up with immense support and eager to make it a 'deal' rather than just 'money-crossing-hands'.
