My friend has an old Compaq CQ40 (around 4 years old). The laptop is suffering from a few issues.
The battery has been dead for some time and hence she connects it to the power connection directly which is the only way it runs.
1. The laptop gets very hot while running.
2. Since the last few days the hard disk has crashed (blue screen) a couple of times.
I did a check using HD tune and Acronis. Both of them show that the hd is okay but it has a very high temperature (specifically the air flow temperature shoots up).
What does the above mean? Should I just replace the battery or is it an issue with the hard disk or something else?
I am going to a service center tomorrow but I wanted to have an opinion from TE members.
