Agree, I have a ~40 year old Carl Zeiss 50mm tooTechHead said:@Brendon - one of my 50s is 40 years old, one is 35, one is ~30, and one is around 28-30 as well.
The joys of shooting with old Takumars
Was about to pick up a Takumar 50mm f1.4 in very good condition for 3.5k a year back. Clicked some 15 - 20 snaps and I was impressed by its sharpness and bokeh close to wide open. My Minolta lens is good after f2.8 but very ordinary at f2 - f2.5.TechHead said:@Brendon - one of my 50s is 40 years old, one is 35, one is ~30, and one is around 28-30 as well.

However I also noticed that I missed the focus on at least 10 - 12 snaps (mostly very slight misfocusing but enough to ruin a snap) which made me realize that I simply ain't that good with manual focus lenses and AF is a must for me.
