Was about to pick up a Takumar 50mm f1.4 in very good condition for 3.5k a year back. Clicked some 15 - 20 snaps and I was impressed by its sharpness and bokeh close to wide open. My Minolta lens is good after f2.8 but very ordinary at f2 - f2.5.

However I also noticed that I missed the focus on at least 10 - 12 snaps (mostly very slight misfocusing but enough to ruin a snap) which made me realize that I simply ain't that good with manual focus lenses and AF is a must for me. :(

^Yeah, you really do need a split-screen focus screen for these large-aperture MF lenses.

I have a working Spotmatic as well, it's a completely different ballgame through that - HUGE VF. Lovely camera.

Just bought a Vivitar M42 55/2.8 Macro for 3k (:D), SHARP SHARP SHARP + lovely bokeh + 1:1 macro.

PS - you're welcome to borrow my Super Tak 50/1.4 - PM me. It's slightly yellowed (radioactive!), but it's a minor issue to change WB settings.

Do you have something similar to liveview? For low light/difficult focus conditions I just turn on liveview, 10x zoom and then focus :P

^^ You too are joining in !!! :O

@Sunny - Yeah my LCD is kaput. Can barely make out whats there. Need to buy a new cam soon. :)

^^ I know Sony hasn't even announced it. :P

Yeah I have been saving up for that. Stopped all audio related purchases and even camera lens purchases in order to afford the new cam.
