In somewhat of a shocker, God of War creator David Jaffe has admitted that if he could change something about PS3, he would have removed its Blu-ray player and sold the console at a cheaper price. He also revealed that he might one day found his own independent studio. More within...

Looks like Sony's gotta big problem ahead

Sony abused the Playstation's popularity by using the PS3 as a bandwagon to promote other hardware of theirs and it has cost them dearly. Sony really screwed up one of the few good things they had going for them.

It's a bit surprising that Jaffe would admit this, but seeing as he wants to go Independent, it sorta makes sense that he'd be this bold.

Jaffe always has had more balls than brains. Remember last year he made a Sony PR look like prick on TV. Bet Sony didn't like that either.

I like him, not only because of two very decent GoW games but also because unlike a lot of developers he doesn't spout bulls**t every time he opens his mouth.

Well, in any case it has paid off. Sony is close to winning its first format war after loses with betamax.

It has cost them the popularity and fame of the Playstation brand which once stood immortal.

I agree with Deathvirus....Coz not everybody in the world has HDTV to enjoy BD movies...it will slowly progress....as the HDTV's will accepted by the world it will boom...& at that time PS3 would be the cheapest BD player available in the market...as it is now....

Even if you have HDTV it doesn't make any sense to buy a PS3 just to play BD movies.Firstly there aren't many BD titles available in the market.Secondly the quality of those available isn't much better than what today's dvds look like.Over course of time that will change but by then anyway we will see much cheaper BD players in the market.So to buy a ps3 today so that you can enjoy blu-ray titles tomorrow is an absurd idea.PS3 would have done much better without the Blu-ray player.
