Staying away from the 2.1 update and iTunes 8 for the while, heard about a few issues with both of them, will upgrade once everything settles down

In the meanwhile 2.0.2 is working great for me without any issues, so sticking with it

i read there is a wifi (WPA/2) issue with the new touch, on slashdork i think...

i am almost ready to run out and buy this... but will wait for a few weeks for reviews/complaints :D

really itching for a handheld touchscreen web browsing experience... cant wait for google android to come out on something like the rumoured htc touch HD ...

oh boy .. anroid is something that i am waiting to explore.. it sure does look neat. It might be awaiting by thousands of programmers as it going to be open source :hap2:
btw, touch HD is with WM6.1 i guess, just saw it on Engadget

ok great !? what country are you from btw?

and dude.. do u even know the meaning of jailbreaking?

Jailbreaking is a process that allows your iPhone to run unofficial third-party applications. It grants the user access to the areas of the filesystem that are by default not accessible. The process itself is extremely easy and can be performed in a couple of different ways. Once the process is complete, and additional icon will appear on the iPhone's home screen: Installer. This is the application that installs all others, and gives you access to everything the jailbreaking community has to offer.

Its just not only upgrading :)

I know that but it is understood that jailbreaking is not 100% safe. My contention is why to use unofficial version of jailbreaking for 2.1. Here is text reproduced from QuickPWN - iPhone, iPod Touch, jailbreaking, and more!

If you want to jailbreak your iPhone or iPod Touch 2.1 on Windows, you will have to use the unofficial jailbreak on QuickPWN.com until the iPhone Dev Team releases the official version of the jailbreak.

wtf? :S
dude jailbreaking is unofficial. people jailbreak their iphones/ipods to install the applications for free since they dont wanna pay for it, which ofcourse is illegal.
please understand exactly what jailbreaking is and then post.

Yes, an upgrade from 2.0 to 2.1 is really worth it...fewer crashes, amazingly stable and zippy.

But i really don't get the point of jailbreaking, App store is good enough, even the free apps.

My friends there is no relation between "not paying for apps" and jailbreaking. There are a lot of paid apps for jailbroken devices.. Its not that you get all apps on jailbroken iPhone or iPod for free. And by using the term official he meant the one that is released by iPhone-devs and not by anyone else. Strange that you ask others to post only if they understand what jailbreaking is :)

You are absolutely right

If you guys dont know about this yet

Appulo.us : The iPhone and iPod Touch Application Index

Most apps are here from app store

enjoy, but this is strictly aimed for trial of paid apps, if you like em buy em

I downloaded a few apps, but they won't install, an error shows up.

I would like to say more on this, jailbreaking is merely a term thats used when a person gains write access on the iphone file system, after that whatever a person does is his own responsibility. And its not coz people dont wanna pay for apps or something, Jailbreaking enables a user to be able to gain write acess on the otherwise inaccessible area of the iphone file system namely "root" and all the underlying directories. And the apps in installer/cydia are free just coz they are like open source, there are ways to get paid apps in appstore to get installed on your iphone too, but thats just 1 of 1000 of uses that jailbreak has. It was initially done to devise software/hardware unlock of the iphone.

I hope this clears up things!
