While Micromax has announced that pre-orders for their next flagship, the Canvas HD will start on February 14th, Chinese manufacturers are getting ready to drop the big bombs with their truly next generation high end smartphones in India. Enter, Jiayu and Umi, two Chinese brands who are waiting to launch their next flagships, and they both look real good.
Jiayu G4
The Jiayu G4 will most probably end up landing sooner in India, and cheaper as well. Let's get straight under it's hood.
Jiayu G4 Specifications
That's a 4.7 inch HD retina display with a pixel density at 312 ppi. In addition, there will be two versions of the phone. One packs 1 GB of RAM, 4 GB internal storage and 1800 mAh battery (hence 8.mm mm thick) while the other higher end version offers 2 GB of RAM, 32 GB internal storage and 3000 mAh battery.
The phone will cost $160 for the base model, and the higher end model might end up being about $200-$220. Expect a price tag of between Rs. 9,000 to Rs. 13,000 making this smartphone an extremely good offering.
UMI X2
We feel that the Umi X2 should have been named the Umi X5 or X4 to denote 4 cores, or it's 5 inch (FULL HD) 1080p display. You read that right, a budget phone under Rs. 13,000 to pack a Full HD display.
Umi X2 Specifications
Packing a Full HD display on a budget phone isn't a joke, and that Umi will indeed bring such a phone, and to India shows how lucky we people are going to be to have such options in terms of buying. Here's hoping this $240 smartphone turns out to be a good one. For Rs. 13,000 I simply cannot recommend anything else over this phone.
