Jio Airfiber feedback?

Any Jio Airfiber user around here?
I recently learned that Jio has started offering Airfiber in my area at the cost of ₹3500 (including "booking" fee of ₹1000).

The employee at their office couldn't give satisfactory answers regarding the concerns I had raised to him, viz. network quality (especially during cloudy/rainy/power outage days), general speed and latency issues. And also the use of the term "fiber" in this service. At first glance it seems like a "WiMax" service (wireless internet using receptors installed on the top of houses and buildings) with better receiver/router/antenna whatever the thing which is installed is called.

I know from my experience that wireless network are prone to weather conditions.

And yeah 5G is also a gimmick where I live.

Anyway the only thing that I like about this is the cost. ₹3500 is relatively cheap than wired ones in my area.

Related thread, this is why I got excited about the Airfiber service.

Try getting Airtel AirFiber instead - Jio is hit or miss for many users - and they refuse to refund people facing issues.

I have the 100 mbps 899 plan but use it as backup when my primary wired connection goes down so can't say for certain but whatever/whenever I have used the connection (including during rains) it seems to work well... speeds not going below 80 mbps.

This shouldn't be taken as a definitive view.
However, all these "Air" Fiber devices latch onto the nearest 5G tower using a bulky outdoor unit and then send the signal through a small RJ45 LAN cable to a Router, where the connection negotiation and data transfer occurs.
There's NO "Fiber" Internet in these devices, and the name is misleading.
Forgoing Wired Fiber/LAN connection just because of high upfront cost is NOT a good decision. Opting for an Air Fiber instead, is an even ill-advised choice.
At best, these types of connections could be considered as backups for a primary wired connection.

Oh I believe you hence this thread.
One thing which the sales guy admitted was the fact that the speed will slow down if there are simultaneous users online at the same time.
The wired one will cost over 14-15k.

Using jio air fiber plus since 3 months...
Worst internet performance ever..
Speed not at all stable
Also the link is not stable
Frequent connection lost and slow in speed too...

Never ever take Jio Air fiber...any other internet will be much better than this...

Btw have heard that jio air fiber(sim) is little better than jio air fiber Plus...
But as the name suggests it should have been the other way around

Using Jio Air fiber for 3 weeks now. Got it under their Freedom offer. First week was pathetic as Citrix kept disconnecting which affected my WFH activities but all else was working fine. Had to renew the old provider for another month.
However raised a complaint with customer care and from then on its working fine. 30 Mbps connection. Since there is a FUP limit of 1 GB, did not go for anything higher. WFH and 2 simultaneous video streams work fine (do not have 4K TV at home).

My advice would be to check if any neighbor has it and how their experience has been. If it is satisfactory then go for it.
If you are the early adopter go for the lowest plan possible so that in case of bad service, you do not loose much.

Note: I did not have wired Fiber option.

Do you know how far the distance is between your location and the nearest tower?
why wired is costing 15k?
See the related thread in the OP.

you can check this on tarang sanchar for your locartion, Airfiber is a hit or a miss depending on the number of users and tower location, for peeps near a tower, even during rains it works decently and for some even on a clear day it'll be crap, from your linked post, I doubt network congestion would be an issue, but do check for tower location,

Also, you mentioned you have a city nearby (a few KMs)? if so, I would personally call Jio/Airtel fiber guys every month untill they setup the connection, if enough people call, they do setup a connection in that area, thats what i did, in my town fiber has been there since covid but not in my area (last mile connectivity) and while the Jio/Airtel folks took their sweet time in bringing fiber to my area, the Sales guy did mention that the repeated calls helped, as me and a few folks in my neighbourhood used to call them semi-frequently to check on progress.

they have not updated tarang sanchar for a long time its long overdue also 5G option is still missing , I had to make 2 ids to overcome their 10 searches limit lol

No. Not aware. I was planning to ask the installation guy but unfortunately was not present when he installed the receiver in the terrace. Connection was stable during the recent heavy rains in Pune as well.

I have never had a good experience with wireless internet ever. They just aren't/weren't reliable enough. I'm also surprised OP you are not able to get a wired connection to your house in reasonable price. Your best bet would be to ask anyone you know who lives near you about their internet experience. Rather know about Internet through word of mouth than fall victim to non-refundable monthly plan + installation charges.

Solid advice here.

I am using jio airfibre for almost 2 months. It all depends on the tower that your 5g signal will latch on to.

The 5g receiver/satellite I have only catches 5g. Doesn't work with 4g. Installer said there is a newer model with 4g 5g support. My receiver is unidirectional. So, if the tower is shut off then internet is gone. Sometimes I lose connection for few minutes on airfibre (this happens when 5g switches to 4g on my jio sim phone). This could be my tower issue only. My area is remote. So, technicians are not able to visit and rectify.
Go for it as a last resort. But I got it for cheap. You could try during installation free offer.
With jioairfibre you get free jiotv and ott subscriptions. They are worth it. You cannot seperate it from normal internet plan.

I would suggest everyone to go for Jio fiber if not than for Jio air fiber and if not than only Jio air fiber plus

jio fiber
- internet through optical fiber cable (BEST)

jio air fiber
- internet through 5G signal (GOOD)

jio air fiber plus
- internet, which does not require 5G signal at all( unlike jio air fiber) , instead it used C6 Device which is installed on your terrace and E6 device which is installed in jio network tower specially for this. (WORST BECAUSE - most unstable internet and most disturbing out of three )

Have used all three personally, jio air fiber plus is worst internet ever used and even the jio service enginer says the same that they are receiving the most complains on jio air fiber plus only.

Wait, they charge that much for installation? I am sorry if I sound naive but for me they just asked me to buy a three month plan and the installation will be free. I just had to pay 1k for the router they provided. Am I missing something over here? someone please explain.

The sales and installation staff is under a lot of pressure to generate sales.
So they will install and commission even if they can latch on to the barest minimum signal.

Once that is done, its next to impossible to get any kind Of resolution when you start facing issues.
Once they have taken your money, you can bid goodbye to it.

Take jio airfiber only if you have no other alternative and you have at least one jio tower in clear line Of sight from your antenna install location
