I was searching something and I stumbled upon this. In order to understand how giant gas was formed, which led to formation of our solar system, NASA scientists built a spacecraft to send it to Jupiter to study. Since spacecraft was big, they couldn't build a rocket which can launch and give this spacecraft enough speed to reach Jupiter. Here comes the sheer genius. They used Earth's gravitational force to slingshot the spacecraft towards Jupiter! Wow, cool.

The spacecraft was launched in Aug 2011 and it was near to earth again in Oct 9-10th 2013 and used earth's gravitational force. It will reach Jupiter in 2016. And with Juno's camera they are making a movie, how do we look from outside ;-)
