okay i got my net connection(bsnl broadband 256 k unlimted--modem -ZTE ZXDSL 831) only yesterday.Woked for about 2 hrs. then couldn't connect till today morning. Now the thing is even when i get internet, my internet light is off.IS that normal?? Also my torrent download speed is ard. 22.5 kb/s. Isn't that too low?? What's the average download speed that you guys get(i mean the ones that are on 256k unlimited dataone plan?)?? Also what upload limit should i set for torrents??
My current settings are as follows:-

preferred DNS server is set to :- 218 . 248 . 255 . 145
Alternate DNS server:-218 . 248 . 255 . 193

Should i stick with these settings or should i change to some other third party servers ?? If so what should be my preferred and alternate DNS server ?? Also do these server addresses depend on modems??i mean do different modems have different DNS server addresses ??

Finally i think i am having a parallel connection( i think--i don't know much abt. these connections) to the phone. Is this the right way to connect or should the phone wire be connected to the splitter??

Download speeds sound about right on a public tracker..are u a member of any private trackers??check the speed there and post back..the most ive ever heard anybody on BSNL 256k unl plan is around 27-28k..

Yes.. http links are more fast than Torrents.. Btw, you can get full speed at torrents if Seeders are more than leechers and if seeder's connection is very fast....

Not necessarily ill say..

With HTTP i max out my Connection (Tata 2Mbps) @240kbps But with Torrents (Be it from ScT,Revtt or TL) i never cross 210kbps..Even when seeders are 500 and leechers are 10..

Dunno whats the problem with that..and yeah Ports are forwarded just fine.. Even Utorrent show the green tick indicating that..!!
