Audio JVC HX RX900 not comfortable for me.

As many know I got my HA RX900 a few days back. The audio quality is great and getting better and better, but I have a large head and wear spec's and the HA RX900 are not feeling very comfortable on my head. I heard these are way more comfortable than Audio Technica AD700, but I guess they are not so comfortable for every one.

I don't know it if they will become more comfortable in time, but if they do not It will be a problem for me. I also need a bit more air circulation even if it means a small amount of sound leakage (although it should not be too much).

I am contemplating on whether I should sell the HA RX 900 off and get some other pair. The only other pair other than Audio Technica AD700 in my budget that's well suited for my A40 mixAmp is the Turtle Beach HPX/HPA2 (in stereo mode) which was also adjudged to be pretty good by a few people over at Head-Fi.

Should I go this go this route or wait and see if they become more comfortable over time.

Over time you might get used to it. But these cans are not the most comfy ones out there. I always have a feeling that something weird is on my head whenever I put these on at cousin's place. Cant shake that feeling.

i also faced the same issue with RX 700s but got used to it... i think rx900 fit is tighter than rx700. check out head-fi, u might find a solution :)

I recently did alot of research as even i am looking for most-COMFORTABLE headphones under the 8k category, and wierdly (opp. to your opinion) everyone (head-fi, techpowerup) suggested AD700 for top comfort and SQ.

Concluded opinion about comfort of headphones as suggested by head-fi:

RX700: Pleather is good but gets warm after 1hr. Needs intervals to remove heat/air

RX900: Warmer. Tough to listen continously for 1hr.

AD700: Airy, feather'weight feel, can be worn for days at a stretch. the most comfortable. But if you're planning for portable headphones, they are too Big.

ATH-M50: Comfortable for some, but claws the head slightly hard. Presses on the head of specially people with normal/narrow heads.

Hence, i would recommend AD700 for you too.

^ You just bumped a very old thread. Anyways I dunno where the OP got the info that RX900 is comfortable before buying it because its actually the AD700 which are the most comfortable headphones around thanks to the 3D Wing technology headband which makes the headphones almost weightless when you wear them ;).

A bit too late with your conclusive opinions.

:ashamed: Guess i was searching for good opinions on TE, and mistook the thread as a new thread, my bad.

Even im looking forward to buy a AD700 eagerly, hence will wait for your opinion on Bass levels and durability, the two things which making me go bonkers in confusion.

EDIT: @pappu: Whats your opinion about above concerns?

^ Haven't you been holding on your purchase since ages ? All I can say is the AD700 is pretty much durable and the one of best cans one can get for ~5-6k. Yes its indeed bass shy and lacks the sub-bass which is needed for electronica like genres. To give you an idea of the bass, imagine PL-30 on flat mode without any amping. :)

^You can get it for ~5.3k after using the 15% off max 1000 GEB coupon .Just 1000 bucks more than US pricing , can't get better than this. I am myself tempted to get one cause I love open cans more than closed ones. :p

well thanks for the link faheem and now i m interested in buying one :)

just wanted to ask that if someone has the 15% off 1000 coupon and can give it to me happily :) ..new to ebay actually and trying to figure out stuff.

help would be appriciated :)

thanks

What i did to my RX900 was a bit funny, but I had a tinge of relief when i found them pretty much comfortable that ever.

I fixed a 30cm ruler between the cups with foam at both the ends to ensure that there is no damage, everytime the headphones were idle. After about 20 days, they stretched a bit allowing the most perfect fit ever. :p

I too wear specs.

LOL.. Looks like my old thread got bumped up. I stretched the RX900's by fixing them on a box and letting them stay that way. They are a much better fit now, but still I need to take them off for a fews minutes every 1 hr or so in the summer. Other than that no major complaints so far.

In any case, I am contemplating on buying another pair of headphones (to replace my Sennheiser HD485 which have become useless) for the PC so I don't have to swap cables every time I want to use the PS3/360 and AD700 is among the options along with ROCCAT Kave.
