Would you guys recommend a try? Wife's HTC is dying, and am tempted to give this a try. Couple of reviews have been pretty positive. Any personal experiences ?

I tried the phone yesterday ,it has a lag you would not believe that it is a dual core at all. I think the ICS port itself is not that stable look at the Pantech Burst phone and if you want something in warranty than go for Xperia phones

@Nalin - Thanks for the link to pantech.
How much ram does a21 has? It is mentioned as 512 MB in some places and 1 G in other, a little confused.
Does Karbonn provide Jellybean updates? I haven't used Karbonn before, wanted to know whether they have any history of providing updates.

Well, if it is for your wife, you better stick to mainstream brands only. God forbid, if something happens to your Micromax/Karbonn, you might find it more difficult to convince your wife than getting it serviced by the manufacturer.

A21 has 512 mb ram and out of which only 396 mb is user available ,so i would say stay away from karbonn and look at the other alternatives,as far as the updates are concerned i have no idea

The A21 has a dual core Cortex A5 and is one of the weakest dual cores in the market. As @Nalin says it lags. Check out the video reviews from igyaan.
But the Karbonn 21 seems to be better. Costs ~8.5k or so with discounts. It has a single core Cortex A9 processor with PowerVR SGX531 and doesnt seems to lag. Check out the video reviews from geekyranjit in youtube.

Looking at the ebay link provided by Nalin, Pantech Burst seems to sell like hot cakes in India.. Heck for the price range, I am wondering if I should buy Pantech Burst as a secondary phone...

Coming back to Topic, You get more VFM by buying Pantech Burst since it has an excellent hardware, Super Amoled Screen and 16gb internal capacity.. Nothing beats the price and the hardware you get... On the other hand, Karbonn A21 is a ok phone for everyday usage like browsing, calling, texting, music... Other than that, I would not recommend it for any other advanced uses.... But for the given price, it is better to buy this than a single core phone regardless of the performance, atleast that's what I think...

Here is the unboxing and quick review from Igyann about the Karbonn A21

Yes indeed i ordered the same on 22-Oct and waiting for it to arrive ,it's a total VFM device. In terms of H/w specs it is on par with my nexus phone at less than half cost so i think if one is ready for waiting almost 25 days and can ignore warranty this a best android phone to get under 10k :hail:

Problem solved guys. Looking at either the new Nexus 4, Note 2 or the new Lenovo for myself and will pass on my Galaxy S2 to wifey.

When I bought my S2, i thought that the Note was too big. I think I will enjoy the big screen though.
