Laptops Keeping laptop on 24x7

I have a Samsung netbook (N128 if it matters) which was purchased way back in Dec. 2009. It has been ON 24 x 7 ever since and serves me as the download rig plus NAS. There is an option in the BIOS to limit the charging to 80% and I've enabled it. The battery does not seem to have taken a big hit since it still gives me a good 4~5 hour backup if the brightness bar is set at 40~50%.

Q.I generally do not unplug/undock my notebook. Does this hurt the battery?

A.No, the battery has built in controls which stop the charging process when the battery is full.

This was mentioned in the FAQ posted by #[member='tech']_bot so downloading 24x7 is safe. Also when downloading always keep it running in balanced mode or prefereably powersaver mode. This will keep the clocks low and prolong processor life.

So issues running lappie for 24x7, thanks guys

laptop temperature should also be considered........

mine runs hotter than before even on idle.....

Prolly needs a regular clean up for dust and debris. Give it to service only if you completely trust the ppl who are gonna service your laptop. Or else live with a hot laptop. Me currently with a hot laptop
