Or they are getting prepared for the new Kindle models by slashing price on the older ones. Kobo is too little a threat for Amazon's Kindle.

yes that was correct. Croma is giving 1000rs discount from MRP. Croma doesnt give good rates anymore. I hate discounts from MRP. >_<

i would go for the Kindle. If you compare the two you'll notice that the specs are similar. and 2k difference is a lot of cash!
Also @avi, a bookworm and constant e-reader/user, said the Kindle gives a little over 30 hrs battery life. Even the Kobe would give similar result but still Kindle is cheaper by 2000!!11

If you have more budget say 10k then the N7 8GB 16GB wifi is the way to go.
My cousin sis has a LG VU P895 phone. Thinking of using that for a while. Else I would be buying the Kindle 4th gen (the one being sold above) or the first gen. N7 32GB 3G.
So it all depends on the budget.

^^Wrong. More budget would mean Paperwhite is the way to go. N7 isn't an eBook reader; won't last even a single day of reading, and is also not pleasant for long reads.

if one wishes to read a lot of PDFs, i think kobo would be good, as i read that its better for that.

I never said it was an ebook reader. It can serve as a great multi-usage device (except for voice calling of course).
