Kitchen Chimney outlet through window - safe?

Hello,

out builder has forgotten to provide Chimney exit and hence suggesting to provide chimney exit through window - which definitely is ugly. but i want to know if its safe.

Also, there is a gas pipe running right next to the chimney outlet area. Please advise.
