Hey guys im at my wits end now.. :(
Heres the problem

I hav my laptop, c2d t5470, Nvidia 8400m gs 128mb, 1gb ram, 160gb HDD..
The problem is that the Hd videos, trailers and sort will play very slowly and one of the following occurs..

1) video audio sync(file is proper)

2) video stutters badly

3) micro stuttering(where audio will be in sync and video wil sturrer slightly..
Im just fed up with this problem..Tried old and new builds of KM player stil wont sort out..I had smooth playback before..The problem has arisen in the last few months..
Recently shifted to x64 vista..
using laptopvideo2go.com nvidia x64 drivers..177.89..

I dont want to switch to any other player..

:) Have you tried any other software like SM player or windows media player 11 ? I use both of them and they work fine with HD (mostly .mkv files ).

Hope you guys read my post:|
The quality with Km player is way batter than anything else..
Wil try core avc codec..:)

Well most of internal filters of players are for high end rigs .. Core avc uses ur processor more .. It is the best H264 codec around ..

Install that and make sure u disable the internal filter in KMPlayer for mkv files ... It should run fine without any problems !

Does it give the same clean quality in Km player??

I hate the hazy playback in vlc:(

VlC uses a internal filter which is not at all good for mkv files .. use coreavc and u wont face any problem !

Get KLM+MPC it tottaly FTW and if you really like changing things here and there get Neuview Media Player.

Try disabling cpu throttling... speedstep or whatever its called.

That option would be in the bios..right?
And wouldnt that mean low battery performance ??

Also, In the battery settings, I hav removed the cpu limit for bith on battery and on charging..Ie..5% to 100% instead of 50% on the battery..
Will try disabling from the bios..

give mplayer for windows(with smplayer.exe as frontend) a try.

half cpu for 720p and 1080 p than say vlc/mpc.

for quality , try to use post processing settings in smplyer options.

^Tried it some weeks ago..

guy something funny..When i plug in my charging cable for charging the laptop, the video playback seems better/less skipping of video frames..
Any idea why??
In power options, hav the same settings for both battery and on charger..

Since you are saying that you get a better playback while on charge, it could be that your graphics card is not being used to full power while on battery?

Although even without the PureVideo throttle, your CPU should be capable of giving a proper playback of HD files.

To see whether it is a proble with any special codec or file format, try playing any HD WMV file of Quicktime file. You can download trailers for this.

Also, did you try the drivers suggested by WU? Or try the latest beta drivers released this week.

Im on the the latest drivers by nvidia..

I tried the Fast and the furious trailer..Wen put on high quality..The damn thing is a slideshow with breaking sound..

In power options, hav the same settings for both battery and on charger..

From this, heres 1 thing you can try:

:)

Goto the power options panel (vista, right?)

Set the profile to performance instead of balanced or whatever the third power saving profile is.

The power save one is enabled on most laptops esp during battery power. It limits how much your processor can be used and hence is responsible for those stutters you are experiencing. A friend had the same issue with Toshiba. Changing this setting fixed it. The whole system became zippier in fact :)

Try it and post back.

EDIT:

1. The XP User's Guide to Windows Vista, Part 7: Power Management and Power Plans - Windows Insight

Just follow the beginning steps to set to high performance, and then try it out :)

Do make sure that the high performance profile still has the default settings in it :)

He has already specified that he has removed the CPU usage limit imposed by the Power Saver scheme, so that is not a problem.
We both had switched the scheme to performance too, but it was stuttering in the performance scheme too.

@Techie- Still no difference:(

OK another try at giving out the detailed problem..
KM player has 3 modes, high quality, normal and low.

ALL in HIGH performance mode

high quality-- battery stutters, on charging stutters.
normal quality-- battery stutters, charging doenst stutter.
low---everything works fine
