Know any iPOD repair mechanics ?

My beloved ipod Classic 80GB 6G probably needs a new HDD as my nephew dropped it on the ground......it worked fine for some time.....now i get the red cross signal.......
There r no mechanics here in trivandrum and reddington refuses to even open it as warranty is over.......
Do u guys know any trusted mechanic who can repair it or put in a new HDD without any cosmetic damage?
If so, i can send it to u for repairs.....and i'll pay the shipping charges........
 
I guess Deal extreme has a repair kit for the ipods.
A DIY kit, it consists of tools to pry open ur ipod and then u can proceed accordingly.
HDD for the pod can be procured from wherever u like. Deal extreme wd have that as well i guess.

Just google out the repair kit if DE is outta stock.
Edit: You can always look up the kit and find it on ebay.in
or look in ur neighbourhood. KMD is not here for laughs either.
 
I have 30gb ipod and HDD gone... still looking for repairing it.went to gaffar market, delhi where the repair guy estimated total cost to be 4700/- approx incl battery... any chances of buying stuff from US and shipping to india at cheaper rate or something..

A DIY solution would be ideal and there are plenty of tutorials/guides on the internet, to follow.
 
Hoorah!!! I've opened it.......slight dent on bottom....that's all....
Now i need someone to buy me a new hdd.......

I've opened the hdd.....the beep sounds r coming from it......upon giving power, the hdd initially didn't spin even though sounds were coming from it.......i gave it a spin and it started spinning.....but i notice that it spins for 15 seconds, stops, again starts spinning for 15 seconds and once more repeats the same......then stops......
Screen still shows red cross....
I've dismantled everything now......

now someone pls buy me a new hdd and clickwheel.....i'll pay....
