An article in DNA says that they have requested BCCI for permission to move the franchise to Ahmedabad. Apparently, that's the reason the word Kochi doesn't appear in the team name.

The reasons given for moving were better cricketing facilities i.e. ground which is ready and better government support...

Team Kochi says no to playing in Kochi - Sport - DNA

The team is mostly gonna move base to to North India (Ahmedabad). North India whats wrong with you!!.

the nomenclature of IPL team is itself hilarious.

1.Indi Commandos Kerala : Provide Commando protection to IPL Teams, I guess main objective will be to protect other IPL teams from Verbal Wrath of Sreesanth & protect sreesanth from Deadly Combo of Bhajji & Symo Slapping him

2.Sahara Pune Warriors : After Kings, Royals & knights in the ground its time for some warriors to join the battlefield

3.Knight Riders : How in the world can anyone ride on a Knight when knight himself rides on a Horse :P

Rest names derived as Royals, Kings & Indians Carrying the Legacy of Various Charging rulers & Daredevil Maharajaas we have had in the past.
 
^^ Are you actually implying that Kerala and TN are separate states?! I know that they speak the same language (Madrasi, right?) and eat the same food (idli+dosa+vada+sambhar+rice+curd), so thought they were the same state.

Kochi Tuskers is a pretty cool name. Does this mean the team is remaining in Kochi and not moving to Delhi?

Kerala's language is Malayalam and TN's is Tamil...and although their food is same, the taste is kind of different...that's what I've observed...

And there is no language called Madrasi :P

What i knew was he used to operate along the border areas of karnataka,kerala and TN.
Also the tusker part reminded me of veerappan.
