Lalit Modi involved in betting, murky deals: I-T report

----
"The report also makes the startling allegation that Mr Modi—through his associates—was ‘involved’ in ‘betting’, while “insider information and outcome fixing of IPL matches were hinted atâ€. The six-month-old report, which I-T sleuths maintain is the basis of current investigations, is obviously referring to betting and insider information in the first two IPL tournaments, not the current one."

When all TV channels started cricket is in the 'very soul of every Indian', I stopped viewing cricket. In fact I stopped viewing it very many years back that I can't even recognise who's who of cricket now. In office I used to be out of sync on subject cricket.

Now, I feel happy for it.

The day when they misused cricket to hijack emotions and sell tampon advertisements, they lost it.

Are you for real ? nobody can take on the govt and win, the idea is absurd. Modi has named Arun Jaitely !!! now what do you say, infact many BJP leaders like Vasundhara raje ( the ex CM of Rajasthan and Arun Jaitely ) are working hand in with Modi... so who should it affect more, the congress or the bjp !!!

^^ Lol just see IPL along with Modi will take the full central Govt down :p BJP and Left will have a gr8 time ahead and ya we are waiting with pop-corn :D

If they try to bring down Modi...Pawar will come in between and threaten to pull the govt down and then our Mrs Sonia will just make a dummy scapegoat out of somebody

Yeah, the media is the real culprit, it reports just sensational news and then tries to take sides.. all the while praising itself.
BTW the idea is not of EPL, but the Zee TV floated kapil Dev's brainchild and now dead ICL...Modi just copied it !!! and then he made sure that BCCI banned the ICL and its players. what a transparent man. that bastid...

i was watching the news now - its funny how the media glorifies someone to the extent of making the person in question sound like god---Times Now quoted how Mr.Modi had changed the way cricket was played and perceived in India and how he revolutionized the concept of the game (they were wrong here he just nicked the idea from EPL) and now they will walk the extra mile to crucify him!
really good read. :)

Handful of players might be invovled in it but I don't think all the players can be involved... Practically speaking, its just impossible...

An informative article from Tehelka about the Modi-Tharoor spat :)

The Indian Premier Leak

From what I can understand everybody was bidding for an IPL franchise, ppl from Gujurat, a pune grp and the Kochi grp who eventually won and that upset the party for others.

A good publicity for IPL. It's got everyone distracted. The only worthy channel left to watch and appreciate is DD loksabha. Jyoti malhotra looks like man wearing a wig.

I just want to see the heat on PAWAR....and how he copes...This lalit modi is no Telgi who just to save other big arse sacrifice self....Though i doesnt like his virtue he did with ICL but this guy really is showing some gut against big fish...he knows he will be behind bars once he leaves his seat as all allegation even those of franchise will be thrown on him to save all biggies(rule of life...blame one to save yourself)

He is like u people just by sacrificing me cant save yourself....ill take another chap with me (looks to be sashank manohar...and if that happens whole BCCI will collapse)

Just feeling a diana type or bob woolmer type incident doesnt happen with him....

I stopped watching cricket long time ago, in fact I was losing interest towards the end of the millennium.
For me Sharjah cup( with THE DON), occasional Pak tours, a series once a quarter were the days.

20-20 has killed the cricket and IPL is selling the body parts :(

50-50 and test were good.

Also there is no surprise of occasional 4s and 6s....It's too obvious that the matches are fixed.
The guys who can't even score 25-30 runs in Ranji are hitting 50sin 25 balls in IPL.
If Sachin isso good in 20-20 IPL then why isn't he playing for India in 20-20 world cup?
In IPL, he gets " Halwa " balls coz people like to see him make good score. Supply the demand and make money.

Sharjah...the biggest match fixing hub in the world. Every wonder why India doesn't play there anymore? Because its a banned location. Ranji = Test matches, and if it matters Manish Pandey, cricketer popularized by IPL was the highest run getter in the last Ranji season. IPL is being thoroughly followed by ICC anti-fixing measures, and now being raided by Tax-officials, anti-betting squad from the other end. You seriously think a league not just made up of cricketing giants, but celebrities like Shah Rukh and respected billionaires like Vijay Malya and Ambani would participate in match fixing? T20 is all about 4s,6s before IPL when it was invented in England. Wake up lol. As for 50 over cricket, I don't get why people talk as if its a dead game mode, we have a world cup on it next year. Sachin only preserves himself for 50 over and Test matches seriously when it comes to National games, hes hardly ever participated in 20 over International.

Internet major Google has said it has received four content censorship requests this month from the Indian Premier League, the administr

ative body of the Twenty20 cricket tournament.

A total of five complaints were received in 2010 about certain websites carrying "illegal retransmission of the authorised feed, copyrighted content for which IPL is the owner", according to Google.

Out of the five, four complaints were made this month while one was made in March.

Interestingly, Google recently signed an agreement with IPL, wherein rights for live web coverage of matches have been given to YouTube, part of the internet major.

Google on Tuesday had named India is the third place among a list of nations from which it received maximum requests for censoring information.

The list, which was based on requests for removal of information made to Google between July 1 and December 31, 2009.

The complaints from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), which owns IPL, have been listed on the website 'chillingeffects.Org', a project run by the US-based Berkman Center for Internet and Society, that tracks online restrictions on speech.

"Whenever we do remove content, we display a message for our users that X number of results have been removed to comply with local law and we also report those removals to chillingeffects.Org," Google said in a blog post on Monday.

Last year, the BCCI had registered three complaints related to IPL, with Google.

The cash-rich IPL is now mired in controversy following allegations by IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi that Union Minister of State for External Affairs Shashi Tharoor influenced the auction of an IPL franchise. Tharoor has since resigned saying he didn't want to be an embarrassment to the government, although he claimed doing no wrong.

Google said that it got maximum requests to censor information from Brazil (291), followed by Germany (188) and India (142).

Removal requests ask for removal of content from Google search results or from another Google product, including YouTube, Google had said in a statement.

"For Brazil and India, requests for content removal are high relative to other countries in part because of the popularity of our social networking website, orkut. The majority of the Brazilian and Indian requests for removal of content from orkut relate to alleged impersonation or defamation," the statement noted.

Never knew India stood #3 for masking the news. :\
