One of the more helpful threads here with a decent amount of participation and support from Mumbai members. :hap2:
BUT...
Lamington road price update thread needs clean up- ugently and severely!! :|
And some restriction for newbies so that they don't post price requests or pc/hardware recommendations or discuss products/purchases. :cool2:
And some moderation so that not-so-newbies and oldies don't do so either. :P
Since it's a price update thread and not a price request thread or a product discussion-
No requests or product discussions in those else those temp infractions with PM alert for the same.
It's there for people to post when they buy or get a quotation before purchase.
Breaks the tracking of updates posted.
Been through quite some pages and there was nothin in the lammy thread but product discussions or requests to get prices for something.
I knew there was a fresh price list of a fresh purchase but it was buried way low.
Some are joining TE just for prices and market.
Seems like there are dealers posing as members stealing away deals from genuine members too.
Check older posts- some senior members of great repute have been accused and scoffed at.
Read this request from a seniorand very respected member>

Read this post made out of desperation>

If that didn't scare you, God knows what will. :bleh:
So please clean it up or appoint a sincere, honest and responsible person (that crapped my chance totally), from staff/support staff/general members, to take care of it- asap.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE. :)

Yep agrees, people looking for prices should either PM the dealers, or open a new thread in the respective section.

And give bikey the sweepers duty for that thread :)

Yup, That thread needs to be cleaned.
only new prices hsould be posted, not price request.

@Bikey : In OP you have more than 3 smileys:bleh:

Agreed and Agreed...

For the price request, either start new thread... something like Price Request Thread, Lamington Road. OR.... Like I earlier suggested in that thread

I suggest that if anyone is going to Lamington road, inform it here and those who're interested in knowing prices for any goods, PM THAT MEMBER instead of crapping this thread with requests.

Or maybe have a separate section for pricing from all across India. One section which consolidates prices of products from everywhere.

and in that section u create separate threads for prices etc etc. Maybe easier to clean up since all price requests/updates will be posted in one section? (instead of requests in different sections such as for cpus in cpu section, for gpu in gpu section etc!).

Offcourse the idea may not work cause people will have to go to the gpu section to ask what gpu to buy and come to the price section to ask what price to pay :P (just a hypothetical eggjample).

^Exactly my thoughts.

Instead I've a suggestion - We've a Buying Guides section with just 6 threads to name. I was quite surprised when I found an entire section being pulled out for a few threads!

Why not have all the price update threads (Hyd, NP, Ritchie St, Lami. Rd) and the price request thread moved to this section and the section renamed to something like the 'Price Guides' or of the sort?

Henceforth this would rule out any possibility of thread crapping. Besides this section could be put as a sub-section under PC Peripherals since most threads like 'WTB PC for 30k', 'Which LCD for 10k', 'SMPS update - which one', yada yada come up here.

Just my 2 cents. :)

but somehow i feel that wen newbies take a look at the PRICE UPDATE threads, they r gonna post requests there only..

they wont even know that a PRICE REQUEST thread exists..!!

Coming back to topic, i sincerely requuest an urgent clean up- please. :)

All queries, product discussions, re-quoted posts, posts of appreciation/dismay/excitement, etc be trashed asap. :)

im gettings sick of moral policing now...
appreciate ur concern bt leave the job upto the mods...or request mod position in pm wid admin....if u havnt done that already.

mods already clean up lot of OT n spam when reported.

This place used to be a fun place wid mods doing their jobs....even though wid lil lazyness.....
now a days i even refrain myself from posting my view most of the times.. i have to think 3times before clicking Post Reply.
i agree some people just keep spamming all over the place bt mods are responsible authorities to distinguish between casual conversation n spam....

some times some post maynot be related to topic bt i guess the purpose of them is to gain knowledge n nt getting infractions for spamming...

spam = similar sort of post in repeatation...like pollution...
this moral policing has bcom a spam from my POV now.
coz it seems that u r d one who indulges in market threads more than any1 else...
from ur POV it might be about Posting the correct info bt it shud be upto the OP n mods to decide what is spam n what is not...

sir, wid no disrespect...ur efforts are toward a better cause...bt do understand that newbies have no cure...we all were newbies n u have to bear wid them if u want them to learn...being uber strict is just gonna scare them away...

PS: This post is complete OT...or deviating from Topic...bt did not want to start flame war by dedicating a new Thread title to it.
These are my personal views..take them wid a pinch of salt or hajmola if cant digest.

this time i did not think more than twice b4 posting...

Everyone is free to express their views and your post is welcome but that is where you got rude inspiteof ending the post with 'no disrespect'- you can't deny it. :)

You could have PMed me too, as you asked me to at the start of your post but didn't.

Hypocrite? :P
As for the "sweeper" job- i think almost everyone else read it as a joke and am sure the mods will too.

You couldn't?
And if you track the newbies who ask for prices, how many of those do you see contributing to TE or partaking in discussions actively? :)

And extremely genuine and selfless members like Eazy, TechHead, stormblast being scoffed at by some random member is not an issue? :S
There are many who buy stuff at good prices but don't post for the fear of not getting "exclusive" good deals from their dealers.

Many get quotations regularly but how many post?

And there are those like Eazy sir to try to get better prices though they have nothing to gain from it.
There are others who stopped visiting that thread as it's mostly full of price requests now.
In the end, just having price updates will be for the good of one and all including newbies, who can access relevant data at a few clicks and not reams of price requests. :)
And you have rightly said, the mods here are wise and just and they will do what is right and unbiased and trash this thread if need be. :)

anything after PS was meant for mods...just to be clear on my stand...no sarcasm hidden there.

as far disrespect is concerned...

i have more respect for u than disrespect..the post was made as an impulse(as i mentioned i didnt think alot b4 posting...as thats what i have been doin n avoiding reacting on an issues here)

as for price update thread...i myself have stopped posting there often since some people started making noise when Eazy me n some other members had some talk abt primeabgb...even though all those post were made so that people can take advantage of our established relations wid prime...from then onwords... i never post any hot sizzling deals in there...if i feel the member in need deserves the right to information then i pm the best prices i am getting..

lastly i did not pm u instead of posting here coz it was remotely related to the Topic...i wanted to see other member's n mod's views on this...i could have pmed the mods directly instead of posting here though...sorry for the impulse.

 Gawd how much you guys type. Just could have typed 'please clean the thread'

Dont know how I missed this thread specially since this is what I was suggesting in the staff section this Monday.

Tell me this however, would it not be wise to keep truncating these threads every two months. The posts made in 2007 would surely be of no consequence to anyone. With a shorter thread it will be easy to navigate and manage.

The staff thread started with the intention to clean and ended up taking a dig at Saiyan  I wish we could post that thread in public, it was that hilarious

PS - I dont think putting restrictions on everything would be a wise idea. The newbies cant post tech with all the attitude flying around instead of a polite reply correcting their mistake. They cant spam with all the report-button-staff-members on the prowl :P Now if they can't even put across a query then we are effectively closing the forum. We cant expect them to take a course in Get Tech Smart to start participating effectively on TE. Maybe someone should start a conditioning camp website for TE. Let them be what they are for a while by defining broad rules, not micromanaging every click.

^madnav -
First of all, no 'sir' as i am not worthy of it. :)

Secondly, to me there are no senior or junior members- everyone deserves respect.
If anyone is senior, it is due to their contribution to the community and not by reps/post count/age/...
People like Sidhupunjab are much more respectable and senior than those registered earlier but do not contribute or are here only for trades.

I don't understand why you think other 'senior' members will flame you? :P
posting a differing POV is not flaming.
It's the newer influx that signs off saying 'i am out', 'logging out' etc as they are not able to hold their own in a discussion/debate.

A logical conclusion is a must.
The best of frnds on TE have charred bums due to flaming each other.
if frnds, it's fun imho. :P
Every TEite is a friend unless they prove themselves otherwise.

And only if you push for more do you get a little something. :P
The mods here are very wise and just and won't impose severe restrictions- knowing that i started my thread. :)
But atleast now the threads will be moderated more often. :P

Chill.
I was also pulling your leg when i posted a reply to your post.
Ignoring it instead of posting a proper reply would have been rude imho. :)

Heartfelt apologies if i have hurt your sentiments in anyway. :)
