after a fresh install of win 7 sp1 when i was running a windows update, due to some misunderstanding there was a bsod when it was updating the lan driver( nvidia chipset)... now the problem it is not recoginising the lan connction(my modem)...

1.driver uninstalled and installed..

2.ran a win update once more.. updated the driver again..

but no connction is getting recognised ... even the light is not blinking also...

will os reinstallation help ??

if you have anyother PC nearby, try that hdd on this machine, as OS reinstall takes 2 hours, and also try downloading hirens boot cd, boot to mini xp and check, if not try safe mode with networking

thnx buddy.. i will try safe mode... if not will buy a lan to usb converter.. using a genuine win 7 and kaspersky is on that machine.. so realy cant format it now

Looks like the Lan port is not getting enabled .. try to disconnect all cables from the machine and perform a CMOS reset (remove the power connection from the pc and then remove the case later the cmos battery ,, hold the power button for 30 sec later place the battery in cover and reconnect the power supply ) the system while booting will give u a message as default settings loaded this is a kind of confirmation of CMOS reset now try to locate the device on the device manager and check ...
