Lan firewall

I am trying to connect through bear share or limewire, but im guessing my work has a firewall on the LAN. I diabled my firewall on my computer, but it still says that either my internet connection is messed up, or a firewall is preventing me from connecting. Is there a way to get around this, or am i pretty much screwed? Any help would be much appriciated. Thank You.
 
Is the main internet line of a System with Win XP SP2 ?

Then you have to disable the firewall there.

Put a thired party one like Norton or McAfee.

Then youll be good :D.
 
Well, go to the Main computer.

First, install your Anti-Virus/Personal Firewall, and enable its firewall.

(I use McAfee Internet Security Suite 7, it rocks!)

Go to, Control Panel > Network Connections > Choose you Active Internet Connection (Not the LAN) > Right Click > Click on the Advanced tab > Settings > Click on Off.

Voila. All Hassels dissappear. :P.
