I'm also in same confusion and finally decided to go with studio 15(p8700, 4GB). But these dell guys are pushing me to go with i7 model(of-course i dont have budget for that):(

im too in just the same confusion..hp dv6-1319tx vs dell studio 15 (P8700)..:S

does the DDR3 ram in HP outperforms the DDR2 in Dell by a huge margin??

They are not your parents. They do push customers to go for a better product. if you go for i7 based model, you need a bigger battery and that means a better charger and the overall cost will go to 70k if I am right.

Tell them that you are the one that makes the call and that you WANT core2duo.

of you can wait for core i3 and core i5 models. These are already released. check with Dell when they are going to put lappys based on these for sale.

There is no doubt that core i7M is the fastest mobile processor but it won't be available for 50k-55k budget. :)

No it doesnt.

ddr3 will exhbit about 5-7% speed difference and in daily use, you wont find any noticable difference. However, what DDR3 will enable you is future proof-ness.

But then it all depends on how long you want to use this laptop. If you want to use this for a maximum of 2 years, and then buy another one. It is better to go for ddr2.

Studio 15 already out with i5 model in Dell india site... and i7 model costs 58K and i hope i can get some discount on that using EPP

^ you could go for their high def WLED RGB screens as an upgrade in the sudio and the xps studio series. Those screens are nice, with solid res.

though i would not advise an i7 machine for now, at least not from India.

Let the CES get over and then lets see what changes.

~just my 2 cents~

kinda off topic..
guys i called the dell customer care (sales dept...i think) as i wanted to know more about the warranty details..he told me that Studio 15's production has been stopped ..i thought it was one of the best selling of all dell..:O
is it really true??

^ They told the same to me, but ofcourse later they told... Due to more demand, the order taking has been stopped :)
