Hola People!

My Friend Needs to buy a new laptop, so he asked me for suggestions and I thought, i would get only the best suggestions for him, So here i am :)

Full Document Processing and Internet Browsing!
Very light Movie usage!
Absolutely no Gaming!

I was thinking on either the
Inspiron 15R
2nd gen Core i5-2410M Processor
4GB2 DDR3 SDRAM at 1333MHz
500GB3 hard drive (5400RPM)
1GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M

XPS 15!

Always on the field, so need something with excellent battery life and Durability !!
Looking at the specs, the Inspiron is a winner,But I dont know about the Battery and Durability of the Inspiron??

My roomie has a XPS 15 (i5) it gives him 3 hours backup and The build quality is impressive! so this i3 model will give better bakup hopefully?
Open to all the brands other than acer!

For the needs both the configs are overkill IMHO. If no gaming then you dont need a discrete GPU. The integrated Intel HD3000 will handle the HD movies with ease :)

I would suggest the Acer TimelineX 5830T if you need good battery life. It gives ~6 hours+ battery life browsing on Wi-Fi :O

Only -ve is that the battery is not user replaceable.

If you have your eyes fixed on a dell then get the base model of the new inspiron 15R with i3 2310M, 3GB RAM and 320GB HDD. More than enough for your friend's needs.

Forgot to mention one thing,

He does a bit of photoshopping too, that's why i thought i would put the GPU, because, if he decides to use photoshop more than "a Lil bit", So future proofing!

And also wont be changing the laptop for atleast 2 years!

And would the Integrated Graphics be enough, if he wants to connect the laptop to his 40inch LCD, to watch movies?

6 Hour battery definitely looks delicious ,But

He burned his hands with acer once, I burned mine with acer once, Dont wanna test our luck oncemore!

acer models are always very appealing, but after 12 months, it gives all kinds of problems :@

Also would you comment on the battery backup and build quality of the Inspiron?

Absolutely even the 13 inch macbook pro costs around 58k with ebay dealers in india,and it really is an awesome purchase
 
Its costly alrite, but after using it for a week, i couldnt turn back !

I was very close to buying one , but due to some reasons I had to shelve the idea!

My next laptop is definitely a macbook air !
