someone told me that while the laptop is directly connected to the power, battery should be removed, and this makes battery life longer ???

please share your valuable inputs on this .........

Yes, it does make a difference but the return is not worth the hassle. Idea being the laptop is slightly warmer and these temps are not good for your battery.

You'd need to have a seriously badly designed laptop to have to do this to save your battery.

I also think this is a perfect fodder to get you to buy a 'laptop cooler' :P

While on this, I have a query which has been in my mind for long. Is a laptop battery suited for long usages? Long as in weeks on end without shutting down, may be with an occasional reboot (not shutdown)? Should the batttery be removed for such usage?

Better you start reading this.

Now provided you have a UPS maybe you can get away with it, otherwise...

What i've yet to see is how much increase in life you will get by constantly yanking out the battery. How much will battery life be extended by ?

This assumes in the first place you already have a baseline where you know exactly what the expected lifetime your battery is supposed to have. What is expected life expectancy assuming you do not do any of this juggling. How long is that ?

Still think this reminds of a tight-fisted uncle who walked 'carefully' to make his shoes last longer.
