For this price range you can get i5 second generation with Intel graphics easily. Don't consider hdd or RAM as your basic criteria as they can be easily upgraded without voiding warranty.. Also please post your usage with it, like if you use it for gaming etc.

It will be for home use which is why 15.6 inch.

My maximum usage will be net, office documents, movies and music.

Sometimes i will play games and use autocad which is why i need a graphics card.

What is the main difference between i3 and i5? Could you suggest any i5 models that i could get in my budget because the ones that i have seen are above 38k.

Well, Simply put, i3 is the entry level, i5-Mid Range and i7-High end processor for laptops. 2nd Generation (Sandy Bridge Architecture) of these processors are much faster, runs cooler and uses less energy than the first generation of these variants.

Since you'd be using AutoCAD, might I suggest an AMD model? I've been personally using this one and I find it more than enough for everyday usage. Also AMD proccys have better graphic support than Intel for a cheaper budget.

If you are so keen on Intel and Nvidia, then this is the next best thing in this price range.

I saw a HP laptop today. AMD quad 4 processor, 4 gb ram, 1 gb ATI radeon. It is for Rs.31,000.

How is the AMD quad 4 processor and out of NVIDIA and ATI which graphics card is better.

AMD Quadcore are as good as 3 cores of Intel... Still an awesome deal... Could you please provide a link to the laptop? And model number?

ATi and NVidia are equals in every way. You would never have any problems whatsoever on an ATi graphics card... And since the laptop has an AMD processor, ATI cards would work even better...

If you have someone coming from the US , try to get the L420 or the T420 Thinkpads with core i5 and 4gb ddr3 + international warranty. The core i5 versions of these laptops can be had for around 32-37k.
