haha.. i know wat you mean. The first time I opened my laptop was about 12 months ago to see where my processor was.. lol.. I was very curious and thought the processor would be hidden sumwhere.. :D

Links to download service manuals are easily available thru dedicated forums. I searched for the one for my laptop from notebookreview.com.

Now I am such an expert that I can open up the laptop, clean the inside with balloon airpump and cleaning alcohol, apply the necessary paste if needed and put everything back less than 1 hour. :D

i can help u if you are in mumbai.

Thanks Idea, my lappy works for ~8 hrs a day, continuous at times.
Sometimes when Im working/typing on it, I can feel the heat on my wrists which lie below the keyboard/on the sides of touchpad.
Also, if its kept on lap, after sometime heat becomes unbearable.

Now, I guess the cheapo cooling devices with fans would be throwing the heat downwards, again this won't be comfortable to keep on lap.
Thanks Bits, I'll try the cheap ones, but can the lappy + cooling pad be kept on lap?

Thanks Halo, opening & stuff is not my cup of tea!
Im a relative novice when it comes to computers, simpler the better for me!

no, it wont make sense in case you use the chinese ones on the lap. there main way of cooling is allowing airflow due to the elevation from the surface level, not the fans actually.

so, better you get a branded one, which has a smooth lower surface and doesnt have protruding legs

Undervolted my laptop proc by a few millivolts within the intel specification and results are great for the same level of performance

Idle: 44C,load: 59

Compare this with the default no modded setup last week:

idle: 55C, load:79C

I dont think any cooler can beat that. Total money spent: 160 rupees for tuniq tx2, everything else was a free download.

Thanks Bits, yes I would try to get a good make cooler.

BTW, how to see laptops temperature? Dumb ques. I know!

hdtune for hdd temp and coretemp for cpu temp.

for all in one monitoring use speedfan, mobilemeter or notebook hardware control.

The cheapest laptop cooler that I'm using now (no time to go to Nehru Place).
Costed Rs. 20 from a utensil shop. Virtually indestructible. And it is effective. I think I can also fit a fan in the center when I have the time.

^^ wtf? lmao!!
