Laptop for a friend at 30k

My friend needs a laptop as he will be going to college this year. He plans to use his laptop for basic movies, skype, browsing and a bit of gaming (games like NFS MW, FIFA). The max he can spend is 30k, anything below is welcome.

From what I have seen, he is looking at three brands Compaq, Acer and MSI.

None of the premium brands now if someone can point in the right direction it would be nice.
 
Amongst the brands you mentioned take your preference as 1)MSI 2) Acer 3) Compaq

I wont rule out Acer altogether as I have used one. Though not very rugged machines they do offer good VFM. Heard nice things bout MSI but no personal experience. About Compaq avoid if you can due to pathetic HP support and their weird warranty policies.

Lastly you can post a WTB thread in case anybody is parting with their Dell under warranty considering the new core i series laptops have hit the markets. Cant say for sure but you may find some one.

I have been trying to find samsung r528 here but i m not ablto get it .
It comes within 30000.
It has three versions
da01in with dual core 25k
da03in with c2d 28k
db01in with core i3 31k
 
yes those are the ones . hope u r luckier to get them at ur place unlike me . i myself m looking to buy something like it.
there s another thread which puts msi cr620 at 27k. i doubt the price tho.
