1) Basic office use..

2) 15"inch..

3) Will be basically needed for wordprocessing and few apps made in vb and .net..

4) NO Vista(before someone trolls, its just cause all pc in office are on xp)wud prefer a great deal even if its with vista..

If ur looking for basic purpose laptop go with the Dell Vostro 1510 its has good build quality and vfm.

Since ur looking for a lappy with XP u can go with this as it comes with DOS;) and u can install XP on it and i dont think u need to spend more on a busniess lappies :no: as ur requirement is basic.

i checked te dells yest, specifically vostro, as i own a 1400...
the problem is i live in nagpur, and even octroi also gets added,
So in the end it reaches >35k almost..

thats why..

Thats why i'm looking at some other brands too, anything good with HP and others??? a good deal on any specific model??
 
hey Party Monger y dont u ship the lappy to a place where there is no octroi (to be frank i dont know what is this ;) ),and then get it to Nagpur ,later call up cc and change the address.Any other brand other than Toshiba or Dell( Vostro is good rest all are crap) u will suffer ,i had tough time choosing a laptop initially choosed Dell Vostro 1510 ,later studio 15 and finally Toshiba Satellite A300 (chaos helped me a lot regarding this :clap: ) .I know its diificult choosign btw laptops,please avoid HP,Compaq ( as the service is sad) ,Acer( build quality isnt tat great).Lenovo i have no idea abt it u might give a try or wait for some to reply abt Lenovo . Spend some quality time is choosing ur lappy as ur hard earned money on it.
 
Yeah thats a good idea, but again some hassle involved,and as it is dell is very erratic with the delivery part..

How long does it take them these days to ship once the payment is done..

sorry party Monger the toshiba laptops in India are heavily priced the only option ur left is Dell ,my mistake for posting Toshiba ,if u some one in the US who can get the laptop for u there are real great deals right now ,lemme know if ur interested ,once again i am sorry
 
Hmm..Checked out the local dealers,
Dell retail= Insane pricing..
Hp and a few others are okay..
most of them dont even quote the processor number:S

Will put up the prices i got at night..
