Hey guys I want to buy new lappy in max 15-20days...

Never used mac though ...went to see macbook air 13inch....
I am more interested towards getting a windows ultrabook of 15.6 inch

I am leaning towards
ASUS Elite S56CA-XX056H i5 model /
Asus S56CA-XX056R Ultrabook (3rd Gen Ci5/ 4GB/ 750GB 24GB SSD/ Win7 HB)

Both are same with only difference of windows 7/8

Pls suggest me best laptop
Range would be 40-60k max

You can get the new MacBook Air at around 63k with the 'back to school' discount offer. - Check this thread for more information: http://www.techenclave.com/community/threads/which-notebook-compares-to-13-macbook-air-2013.149638/

Though, that's really stretching your budget and if you're looking for something in between, I would recommend the ThinkPad series from Lenovo. The Edge E530 is a great laptop to type and code on, since that will be your main requirement. It's around 53k on Rediff shopping, maybe you can get a better deal elsewhere.

Do u know anything about asus ultrabook models which I mentioned?
Am more leaning towards those models

I went to see macbook air but 13.3 looks smaller as compared to 15.6 with 15inches giving more area to work with

The MacBook and ASUS laptop you mentioned have the same resolution right? Or are you getting a FullHD option with the ASUS laptop? If the resolution is same, then there is only a slight advantage in screen size between 13.3 and a 15.6; it isn't that big a problem. In fact, images will be more sharp.

The reason why I suggested the MacBook or the Thinkpad is because you cited coding as a main requirement, and that requires a good keyboard. Both these laptops are also known for being sturdy and surviving for long; you're a student, so that should also be a priority.

Also, I would like to add, if you are in no hurry to get a laptop, you better to wait for Haswell processor refresh in laptops. It will make the battery life almost double, while being just a tad costlier than current-gen laptops. It will be a good investment in the long run.

Checked all and am leaning towards macbook air 13inch only....

The Zenbook?

It's good value for money, but the screen and battery life is below par. Also, it doesn't have a good enough keyboard -- and your main priority is coding.

There are many models, and each one has its own advantages and disadvantages. Which one do you have in mind?

I was thinking of S56CA series...i5 models....but drawback is 4 cell battery...
Was searching for 6/8/9cell battery but could not find one on the net....

I use a K55VJ and i know the nvidia graphics card kicks in only when some graphics intensive application is running. I too code for very long hours at a stretch and my laptop never heats up on me! The keyboard is nice and spaced out and the screen is also pretty decent although i would have loved an anti glare screen! But for 42k its awesome! Plus if just run an IDE or so i get around 4 hours of battery backup!
If your laptop is heating up while coding then i suggest you get the heatsink and fan cleaned!
Also wrt your choice, wait a while for the Haswell lineup of laptops to become mainstream and then purchase! Else the MacBook Air is what you want to get now. Battery life is crazy and OSX kicks Windows from every direction!

Yep 3-3.5hrs is the max with old laptop I would get...yep nvidia kicks in only when needed.
Heat is more prominent while using with charger....

Am waiting for Haswell now
